Do Voters Think Obama Is Cooler Than Romney?

In a new Zogby poll, for the first time since he began running for president, Republican Mitt Romney has grasped the support of over 40 percent of America’s youth vote, a possible landslide foreshadowing for President Obama who scored his 2008 victory with the overwhelming grassroots support of younger, idealistic voters.
However, a nationwide USA Today/Suffolk University poll of people who are eligible to vote but aren’t likely to do so finds that these stay-at-home Americans back President Obama’s re-election over Mitt Romney by more than 2-1.
Two-thirds of them say they are registered to vote. Eight in 10 say the government plays an important role in their lives. Even so, they cite a range of reasons for declaring they won’t vote or saying the odds are no better than 50-50 that they will: They’re too busy; they aren’t excited about either candidate; their vote doesn’t count.
Turns out Paul Ryan didn’t help Romney’s numbers yet, either.
A new Economist/YouGov poll finds no significant impact from Mitt Romney’s pick of Rep. Paul Ryan as his vice presidential running mate. President Obama leads Romney by three points, 47% to 44%. Last week, Obama had a one point lead.
According to past campaign statistics, the party that picks a new running mate typically finds a net gain of four points in polls.
UPDATE: “A new report on voter registration trends finds that Democratic voter registration is down by more than 800,000 since 2008 in 8 key battleground states,” writes Charlie Mathesian for POLITICO. “GOP registration has also declined – but by only 79,000, a tenth of the Democrats’ losses.”

Louisiana's Indian American Governor Bobby Jindal, who was among the leading Republicans considered by Mitt Romney to be his running mate, has backed the eventual pick Paul Ryan, calling him a man the nation needs.
Jindal, who has been campaigning extensively for the former Massachusetts governor, however, ruled out taking up a cabinet position in a possible Romney administration.
Jindal was all praise for Wisconsin Congressman Ryan, who was declared the Republican Vice presidential contender for the November elections yesterday.
"Paul is a good friend and one of the smartest guys I served with in Congress... He has the courage of his convictions, which is what our nation needs," said Jindal.
Ryan is 42, a year older than Jindal, who is now in his second term as Louisiana's governor. In a statement, Jindal also said he was not interested in a cabinet post with a possible Romney administration.
"No, I would not consider a cabinet post. I consider being the governor of Louisiana to be more important and the best job there is," Jindal said.
"I have been traveling all over the country and been campaigning for and with Gov Romney because it is crucial that he wins, and that we make Barack Obama a one-term president. As for me why would a guy with the best job in the world be looking for another one?"
Romney was regarded as one of the contenders shortlisted by Romney to be his vice presidential running mate.
Although he wasn't picked up finally, Jindal's time and prominence on the campaign trail for Romney can only benefit the Louisiana governor in his national political ambitions, said Pearson Cross, a political scientist at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Cross said Jindal at 41 is young enough and would still have time for a White House bid, if he waits for eight years.
And if Romney does not win the 2012 battle, Jindal would be thrust to the front of the pack as a potential presidential contender in 2016, said Cross.
"This is one of those situations that doesn't have a downside for him, frankly, this would give him some time to make solid connections around Washington, D C. This would give him some time to solidify his fundraising operation," he said.
Tulane University political scientist Thomas Langston said comparing Jindal and Ryan on brain power may not do justice to Jindal, but Ryan has asserted real leadership within the Republican caucus. "He has made a reputation for himself for being not just tough, but smart. That reputation may be a bit overstated; I'd bet he could not hold a candle to Jindal in a sheer braininess contest," he said.

Which means that the Mormon Church is operating as a business, not a charity, because they are using the religious racket to avoid paying taxes.
**We don’t like the Fair Tax, as it is a national V.A.T. which is too high 23%, gives the federal government too much power and strips states the power to fund themselves, any individual tax rate/small business must be around 20%, because not all individuals are giving 10% to the church but they are using 3% of services, roads and health care. Therefore, if an individual has no income we can verify, we can not prove that they are paying 7% of sales tax in a bad economy when sales are down, which is why the Fair Tax does not work past being on paper.
State sales taxes must go up to 10%, then a person may file that they gave 10% to the church so we would avoid the revenue crunch of them not paying for roads and health care, but most are under the $20,000 mark so they don’t ever file, but we should require that you must file every year, that you were exempt status and what your deductions/donations were. That way we can assess penalties for those abusing indigent services, sucking off Social Security or defrauding disability, or never paying taxes but sales tax and when they are practicing tax evasion altogether while getting TANF and health care as it is.

STATE TAXES WILL NEED TO GO UP 3% (2% FOR HEALTH CARE SERVICES ALREADY USED AND 1% FOR ROADS -- IF WE DO THIS, WE CAN FIX INCOME INEQUALITY AT STATE LEVEL BY PROPERLY FUNDING PROGRAMS WITHOUT BORROWING ON A PREMIUM FROM THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, TO STABILIZE THE FEDERAL BUDGET ON CONSTITUTIONAL PRIORITY, NOT BALLOONING THE DIPLOMACY UMBRELLA OF THE BUDGET.
2) A 10yr. Window is an excellent budget principle to review sunset programs.

MIAMI — Sandra Pico is poor, but not poor enough.
She makes about $15,000 a year, supporting her daughter and unemployed husband. She thought she'd be able to get health insurance after the Supreme Court upheld President Barack Obama's health care law.
Then she heard that her own governor won't agree to the federal plan to extend Medicaid coverage to people like her in two years. So she expects to remain uninsured, struggling to pay for her blood pressure medicine.
"You fall through the cracks and there's nothing you can do about it," said the 52-year-old home health aide. "It makes me feel like garbage, like the American dream, my dream in my homeland is not being accomplished."
Many working parents like Pico are below the federal poverty line but don't qualify for Medicaid, a decades-old state-federal insurance program. That's especially true in states where conservative governors say they'll reject the Medicaid expansion under Obama's health law.
In South Carolina, a yearly income of $16,900 is too much for Medicaid for a family of three. In Florida, $11,000 a year is too much. In Mississippi, $8,200 a year is too much. In Louisiana and Texas, earning more than just $5,000 a year makes you ineligible for Medicaid.
Governors in those five states have said they'll reject the Medicaid expansion underpinning Obama's health law after the Supreme Court's decision gave states that option. They favor small government and say they can't afford the added cost to their states even if it's delayed by several years. Some states estimate the expansion could ultimately cost them a billion dollars a year or more.
Many of the people affected by the decision are working parents who are poor – but not poor enough – to qualify for Medicaid.
Republican Mitt Romney's new running mate, conservative Wisconsin congressman Paul Ryan, has a budget plan that would turn Medicaid over to the states and sharply limit federal dollars. Romney hasn't specifically said where he stands on Ryan's idea, but has expressed broad support for his vice presidential pick's proposals.
Medicaid now covers an estimated 70 million Americans and would cover an estimated 7 million more in 2014 under the Obama health law's expansion. In contrast, Ryan's plan could mean 14 million to 27 million Americans would ultimately lose coverage, even beyond the effect of a repeal of the health law, according to an analysis by the nonpartisan Kaiser Family Foundation of Ryan's 2011 budget plan.
For now, most states don't cover childless adults, but all states cover some low-income parents. The income cutoff, however, varies widely from state to state.
Most states cover children in low-income families. Manuel and Sandra Pico's 15-year-old daughter is covered by Medicaid. But the suburban Miami couple can't afford private insurance for themselves and they make too much for Florida's Medicaid.
Manuel Pico, a carpenter, used to make more than $20,000 a year, but has struggled to find work in the last three years after the real estate market collapsed. He occasionally picks up day jobs or takes care of the neighbor's yard. Sandra Pico would like to work full time, but can't afford to pay someone to watch her 34-year-old sister, who has Down syndrome.
"No matter how hard I work, I'm not going to get anywhere," Sandra Pico said. "If you're not rich, you just don't have it."
In San Juan, Texas, 22-year-old Matthew Solis makes about $8,700 a year – too much to qualify for Medicaid in that state. Solis, a single father with joint custody of his 4-year-old daughter, said he works about 25 hours per week at a building supply store making minimum wage and is a full-time college student at the University of Texas-Pan American. He aspires to be a school counselor.
He recently sought medical care for food poisoning, visiting a federally funded clinic. But he doesn't see a doctor regularly because he can't afford private insurance. The new health law allows young adults to remain on their parents' insurance until age 26. But that doesn't help Solis, whose father is uninsured and whose mother died of leukemia when he was 8.
"I voted for him (Obama) because he promised we would have insurance," Solis said. "I'm pretty upset because I worked for Obama and I still don't have coverage."
His governor, Rick Perry, like Pico's governor, Rick Scott, is rejecting the Medicaid expansion. So Solis too is out of luck unless his circumstances dramatically change.
In all but one of the states where governors are rejecting or leaning against the expansion, the income level that disqualifies a parent from Medicaid is below the federal poverty line. Only in New Jersey, where Gov. Chris Christie has said he's leaning against the expansion, is Medicaid available to parents with incomes at the poverty line and slightly above. New Jersey will cover a parent making $24,645 in a family of three.
Most states base Medicaid eligibility for parents on household income and how it compares to the federal poverty level, which was $18,530 for a family of three in 2011, the year being used for easier state-by-state comparisons.
In Louisiana, the eligibility cutoff for a working parent is 25 percent of federal poverty, or $4,633 for a family of three. In Nevada, it's 87 percent of the federal poverty level, or $16,121 for a family of three.
That's been the range in states where governors are likely saying no to expanded Medicaid.
In contrast, states where governors have said they'll expand Medicaid are more generous with working parents. The Medicaid eligibility cutoff ranges in those states from Washington's $13,527 to Minnesota's $39,840.
To be sure, some states with generous coverage for parents have been forced to cut back. Illinois, facing a financial crisis, ended coverage last month for more than 25,000 working parents. Even so, the state still covers working parents with incomes slightly higher than the poverty line.
The national health law's Medicaid expansion would start covering all citizens in 2014 who make up to roughly $15,400 for an individual, $30,650 for a family of four.
The federal government will pay the full cost of the Medicaid expansion through 2016. After that, the states will pick up 5 percent of the cost through 2019, and 10 percent of the cost thereafter.
Why would a governor say no?
These state leaders are in favor of smaller government. In principle, they don't want the federal government to expand – even if that expansion would help their own citizens.

Also Medicaid is costly, taking a huge bite out of budgets already. And they don't want to be on the hook for paying any more of the tab even if it's years down the road.
"We don't need the federal government telling us what to do when it comes to meeting the needs of the citizens of our states," Florida Gov. Rick Scott wrote recently in an opinion piece for U.S. News and World Report. "And we don't need Washington putting states on the hook for future budget obligations."
Also, many conservatives view Medicaid as a wasteful, highly flawed program, akin to no health coverage. Many doctors across the country won't treat Medicaid patients because the payments they receive are so low.
When the Supreme Court ruled that states could opt out of the health law's Medicaid expansion, it raised the chances for inequity at a time when more Americans have fallen from the middle class into poverty, said Isabel Sawhill, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.
"Why should a sick person in Connecticut have access to health care when they don't in Mississippi and Texas?" Sawhill asked. "We really do have a very high level of poverty as a result of the recession. And the safety net is weaker than ever."
Medicaid, the nation's single largest insurer, is a state and federal program created in 1965 as a companion program to welfare cash assistance to single parents. Today, the elderly and disabled cost nearly 70 cents of every Medicaid dollar, not the stereotypical single mother and her children.
What's largely unknown to many Americans is who is left out of the safety net, said Cheryl Camillo, a senior researcher at Mathematica Policy Research. "A huge chunk of the populace is not covered, even by Medicaid," she said.
The political rhetoric during a presidential campaign focuses on the middle class and leaves the uninsured working poor largely invisible, said Rand Corp. researcher Dr. Art Kellermann.
"We hear a lot of talk about unemployment and the aspirations of middle-class Americans. But we don't hear about the consequences of unemployment and the consequences of the collapsing middle class," Kellermann said. Losing health insurance is one of those consequences.
"It's like the public just doesn't want to believe anything else until it hits home," he said, "Until it's their own child, brother or parent that got laid off when they were 58, until then, it's not real."

Fareed Zakaria's Washington Post Column Will Not Run Amidst Mounting Plagiarism Allegations

Amidst mounting allegations of plagiarism and inadequate quote attribution, CNN host, Time magazine editor-at-large and Washington Post columnist Fareed Zakaria will have a notably quieter month.
The Washington Post announced on Monday that it will not run Zakaria's column in August. The news follows Zakaria's one month suspension from Time magazine, and indefinite suspension from CNN.
In Paul Farhi's Monday article, the Washington Post reporter wrote that Zakaria's 2008 book "The Post-American World," also contains an unattributed quote. Farhi wrote that Zakaria defended his book in an interview, calling the allegation "totally bogus" because the book "is not an academic work where everything has to be acknowledged and footnoted."
"People are piling on with every grudge or vendetta," he added.
Last week, Zakaria apologized for making what he called a "terrible mistake:" lifting parts of Jill Lepore's April New Yorker article for a recent Time magazine article and CNN.com blog post on gun control.
Newsbusters, the conservative media watchdog, was first to spot the similarities between Zakaria's Time magazine piece and Lepore's New Yorker article. After Time accepted Zakaria's apology and suspended him for a month, CNN released a statement noting that Zakaria's CNN.com blog post contained similar unattributed quotes, for which he would be suspended indefinitely.
It seems as though many entities with which Zakaria is involved may be reconsidering their relationships, including his alma mater, Yale.

Contrary to the most recent sound bites from Obama’s Campaign Advisor David Axelrod and White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, our economic issues have nothing to do with: the Arab Spring, Japanese earthquakes, or the European debt crisis. The issue is the $14 trillion dollar deficit; $9 trillion obligated by Obama, up to and by the 2010 budget and the 2011 budget unwritten: from unfunded mandates, programs, and Obama’s constituent lobbying and empty promises of payouts off of indebting taxpayers. The way to govern is not to expand government, or misappropriate, by levying debt onto states and individual taxpayers to finance a bogus and unlawful agenda against the will of the American people.


While we anxiously await for Obama’s impeachment, and while many of us thought this was the only way to rectify at least half of the deficit, by kicking him out, this is necessary because Obama has treated the national debt as his own personal tab of taxpayers’ dollars, (which is treacherous and treasonous). During the legal process of criminal investigations against Obama for fundraising fraud with Tony Rezko and purchased property, voter election fraud 2008 (dead people and Mickey Mouse voted but Clinton did not press another ballot as long as she became Secretary of State), corruption allegations that he was the #2 highest recipient of Fannie Mae contributions, and numerous indications that the birth certificate is indeed a forgery, we still worked and continued to push for cuts.

When proposing cuts did not work but to accomplish exhausting debate, the House introduced various measures that passed: repeal of H.R. 4872, nearly passed Cut, Cap & Balance and pushed for a Balanced Budget Amendment, and the House even completed negotiations on emergency legislation to reduce the interest from the debt supercycle of bumping our head on the debt ceiling by making cuts and compromising. Yet we still have had repeal legislation for an entire year, that has not been brought to the floor, simply because the debt ceiling debate and finding the funds to run the federal government had usurped our entire time working together since March. This instability has contributed to a roller coaster market and investor uncertainty; heck, if the government can’t pay their bills or afford the interest on their loans, surely the private sector would have never recovered and we would be stuck in the same ditch Obama touted, that he spun his wheels in and dug us even deeper in debt by $9 trillion all by himself.

All of the hard work and compromise in the House of Representatives was met with retraction from Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid since losing super majority power in 2010 by the replacement of 59 seats: despite court rulings against H.R. 4872, despite nearly 1,500 waivers being filed to opt-out of H.R. 4872 with half the states rejecting the levying of debt for an unconstitutional health insurance program and suing the federal government, despite the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals ruling 2 to 1 that H.R. 4872 poses issues that violate the Constitution, especially the individual mandate clause http://www.wsbtv.com/politics/28848345/detail.html -- it is not the Tea Party, the GOP, or the majority of the American people failing to see futility and fiscal insanity this has created, only Obama, Senator Reid, and about seven Democrats.
Most working class Americans, those that comprise the Tea Party as middle class, have watched their 401K’s lose the entire value that they have paid in all this year, due to the uncertainty that H.R. 4872 created over taxation and business practices, along with Democrats refusing to acknowledge the seriousness of the deficit, continuing to charge their will on the taxpayers’ dime; no matter the consequences regarding interest, the debt ceiling, sinking the recovery, and sabotaging the stock market, and stinting our future, according to the Democrats they are still not to blame even though they have obligated $9 trillion unwisely.  

The Tea Party which now claims 59 seats in the House is the rising Independent third party for 2012 representation, and we are tired of being exploited for the government machine. Additionally, we are bewildered with being placated, lied to, and stolen from from a small handful of corrupt Democrats abusing their power in the Senate, and by a President who is not even a citizen, let alone someone who we respect as a leader. Since government is supposed to be for the people and by the people, we intend to financially take control back of our country. If that takes an election of replacing 250 seats, or if that takes eradicating 10% of the federal government to invest in the private sector, or permanently doing away with those seats by not funding those positions and permanently striking them, we will do all three if that is what it takes.

The Holy Grail of the Tea Party, in partnership with the Balanced Budget Amendment, is limited government. We revile the abuse of power of Senator Harry Reid and others, and as taxpayers, we refuse to be subject to his whims as Obama’s right hand. Therefore, we will continue to iron out these plans and see to their implementation in some form or fashion, as we certainly can not afford to have bad leadership ruin our country by refusing to do anything but wait for them to do the right thing that they should have done in the first place!

We are still having trouble at HOW to go about achieving these goals. While we have done #1, #4, and started #6 in GA, we are not totally there or even close to accomplishing half of our goals at state level. Nor can it not be said enough that we need to reduce federal spending in our state, cut services, and reduce the total size of GA government until it equals 10%. We then show where we’ve given government loans in the private sector to businesses to hire employees, since banks aren’t loaning the money. The government needs the revenue, and banks need to be reminded that they’re too fat.


On the federal level, we have done #3, decreased #4, increased #2 and #5, just now cut #6, and we aren’t even close to attaining 25% of our goals. Here is the scary part: we will have to do all of this by March of next year, or we will be in the same spot we were with 8-2 being the death knell to the economy with interest eating us alive because our debt is so high for refusal to cut Obama’s programs, or any programs substantially for that matter.

This is why I’m pressing for #10. We are preparing for the next election cycle for 2012, and it will be separating the wheat from the tares. Congress seems to be unwilling to go without vacations and make sacrifices in pay for the fact that a $14 trillion dollar deficit exists, so we need to rid ourselves of or shed 250 seats. These seats are based on roll calls votes of those who voted against Cut, Cap&Balance or various measures related to sane budgeting. #4, #5, #7, and #8 must go immediately. We are still working on judicial reform and matters related to Homeland Security until 9/11/2011. After that, we will cut accordingly from #12 through Thanksgiving. That still leaves #1, #2, #6, and #9.

I pray that as we break this down with Super Congress of the 12, that we can prioritize our cuts and decision-making judiciously between now and Thanksgiving. I do realize that if agreements can’t be made to reasonable degree that spending cuts will automatically be triggered like during the Clinton Administration, which I am grateful that call was heard. While the Path to Prosperity is great, we must act upon its principles, and those automatic triggers while a safety net to keep us from being imperiled in March is great, we really need to give the succeeding President something to work with other than Obama’s red Chinese cents, and of course, remove such disgrace.

The opening statement of the Constitution declares that we, the people of the United States, as one of our main duties is to provide for the common defense. This means that the people are the government, not the government as a separate entity, so that we decide as taxpayers how our money meets the needs of domestic peace and tranquility.

Article I, Sec. 8 determines that the power to declare war resides with Congress, and that no appropriation shall be made longer than two years to raise and support an Army.

At this time, Vice President Joe Biden, Senator John McCain, and Senator John Kerry are authorized to sign a declaration of war jointly, or any emergency military order as required by military command or conference. Obama has been relieved of signature authority, Vice President Biden is acting Commander-in-Chief.

Given these provisions of the Constitution listed above, it is necessary to revisit our commitments to other countries that fall under diplomacy operations and those that actually fall under the regular defense budget. There has been a lot of political discourse regarding “unconstitutional wars, endless war spending, and endless wars”, but these are misnomers when it comes to approving an annual defense budget and defining our previous and current national security needs.

Our war has always been against the enemy Al Qaeda, and the bulk of our military spending has been in pursuit of that enemy going on eleven years. After ending the Iraq War, that has been likened to my generation’s Vietnam, it is also necessary that we promote a military budget that is reasonable and does not use sequester, an across-the-board percentage cut, without thorough examination of the 2013 defense bill and what our military is requesting to carry out operations.

A sequester is a default mechanism, usually used for annual business budgeting, but given that defense is the first priority of a Constitutionally-funded model budget and that the Senate has failed to produce an annual budget for 4 years straight and has been operating on a continuing resolution, we have averted 5 government shutdowns, and we pray to avert a 6th on 9/30/12.

*I would like to note that this process had gotten so political, so weighed down with ire and rhetoric for failure to even write a Constitutional budget, that the Tea Party and Paul Ryan took over this process. Paul Ryan wrote a deficit reduction budget called the Path to Prosperity, based on the works of Tom Coburn and others, which came forth from the very heated debate over the debt ceiling in the Summer of 2011, so the Tea Party drafted a working budget based on actual physical revenue trend, (in order to reach a target of deficit control and a path toward paying off our deficit annually).


After review, Bush Tax Cuts offset the inflation of the costs of the Iraq and Afghanistan Wars to avoid a tax revolt during times of conflict. However now that Afghanistan is considered a matter of diplomacy operations in alliance with Karzai, those costs must be monitored effectively for approval of the 2013 defense budget.  

The problem is, the Bush Tax Cuts caused us to borrow to pay Congress’ salaries over the past 10 years, and while this is not specifically about the 2013 defense appropriation bill, it is worth noting that Congress while in session works 12, 13, and 14 hour days at times, meets endlessly, and then while on break they meet with constituents.

We are not the part-time Congress of the Founding Fathers, who took off seasonally to manage domestic affairs and work. Congress may need to consider a reduction in their salary of $200 billion from last year to this year, to cause us not to borrow, unless those cuts are found.

Congress’ salary is $1 trillion annually, plus the $700 billion in interest that hits us every 5-6 months. While we would all like to get off of the continuing resolution model, it is imperative that everyone presents a budget to get a public consensus about how the government appropriates and carries out funding of each program. Failing to write a budget will be met by the wrath of voters, and Congress has been appealed to order misappropriation and remuneration charges over Obamacare, a $2 trillion tax increase that was just cremated by the House, for not providing any health insurance whatsoever.

Without a budget, the Democrats leave their constituents’ voices unheard and misrepresented to a cacophony of shouting and wasted floor time debating bills that aren’t even at hand.

Seeking balance, the 2013 TEA PARTY BALANCED BUDGET $3.5 TRILLION ANNUAL REVENUE https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aq5m9QEGEZpOdFVCTlNEMTc1VW41bGZoOXRWdzlHVkE#gid=0 has been written to reflect the expiration and sunset of the Bush Tax Cuts, so that Congress is paid without having to borrow or pay the interest for their salaries. This will not only balance our domestic spending to our needs of national defense, this budget places us with a $25 billion down payment on our deficit, free and clear. This way the books are balanced going into 2013, and any additional revenue can be applied toward deficit reduction, as we begin to implement the Path to Prosperity proposals by March of 2013.

To discuss these matters specifically related to the 2013 defense budget, we ask that $600 billion be appropriated for general military operations, $200 billion for requiring anyone under 25 to get their Master’s degree for education/retraining purposes, and $200 billion for defense projects. The project list was due 8/1/12, when I attended the meeting, I did not hear of the projects or who had theirs ready for review.

  • We have abandoned the need for consideration of revisiting the military draft, unlike Israel. We want a volunteer Army, because we believe that our military works best that way, and we want our soldiers to function well in the private sector. We are making education a requirement, and we want no one under the age of 25 on front line duty, because the brain has not fully developed. This may cause some criticism from the military and how it chooses to operate, but we have to operate more wisely than we have in the past in recruiting, training, and retention of personnel.
  • Defense projects are to be submitted and approved by Allen West. He is an asset to be in a position of having served and to be able to communicate with military personnel with relative disclosure in being mindful that not everything must be left to public scrutiny.
  • I found the 2013 defense budget well constructed and easy to read, despite the repetition and long list of equipment, I was eventually able to tabulate the cost, but we need a different scoring system in the margin for legislation anyway.



In short, we ask that no defense cuts be made by percentage calculation or with respect to the annual budget, because we find that the 2013 defense budget takes taxpayer dollars into consideration, and that it is not asking for any increases but a preservation of operations.

We must take that into consideration as taxpayers, that our military has more than met their obligations and given us a 5 time renewal of Army to complete the task of our generation against Al Qaeda. We must also respect that our fight is not quite finished, that we have smoked out Al Qaeda in Yemen, and that with the help of Iraq, we now have Al Qaeda cornered in Syria. While we are looking forward to a time of peace and a time when the Middle East tension with neighbors subsides, we know that these are all factors of a delicate balance of operations and quality intelligence.

In order to prevent this sequester and to pay Congress, we are cutting $200 billion from the Judiciary, until they get serious and prioritize processing violent offenders and preventing abuse of tax dollars.
We also propose a measure that should sit well with those against capital punishment and those who
are tired of supporting terrorists, murderers, rapists and pedophiles to be housed for life sentences:
We will begin phasing out maximum security wards to isolating prisoners to Johnston Atoll.

With the invention or perfection of drones, we will be able to remotely secure prisoners on this deserted and abandoned military base. Johnston Atoll or Drone Island will function like exile, except we will know when the elements have taken a prisoner, as opposed to lethal injection costs and life sentencing housing costs:

We find that life sentencing is a cruel and unusual punishment to taxpayers, who are forced to subsidize violent criminals’ sustenance, and it is cruel and unusual to deny someone the punishment their offense such deserves, an injustice that carries with it enormous impunity and consequently the perpetuation of violent crime trends. With these reforms in place and implementation of “The Military Sequester Prevention Act of 2012”, we can not only help to reduce terrorism but other forms of violence in society, and in conjunction with the proposed use of Johnston Atoll, we ask that any existing law still in place for lack of a Senate vote taken on Obamacare, that the House begin redirecting funds appropriated to Planned Parenthood by Obamacare or H.R. 4872 to be implemented for the cost of plane travel and parachute for prisoners phased out to Johnston Atoll.

Failure to adhere to this budget or these proposals will bring further audit of federal prison costs and reforms, including deportations to country of origin to deserted areas like Johnston Atoll, for taxpayers do not have to sustain global terrorism through prison bases contrary to their well being, or gangs for twenty years to life.

We urge the Senate to act in passing the 2013 defense budget, as written, with the military to apply the reforms listed herein. If the Senate does not, we will pursue cutting the salaries of Senators by $200 billion, for creating a defense vacuum between now and 9-30-12, with our military unable to approve their project lists that were due on 8/1/12. The Department of Homeland security is also being considered for reductions, as well as other underperforming domestic agencies.

DHS Purchases 750 Million Rounds Of High-Power Ammo

724Yesterday I reported that the Department of Homeland Security had purchased over half a ton of explosive nitrates that they wished to be delivered by the end of the month. They claimed its use was to train bomb sniffing canines. What’s even more interesting is that DHS has also put in an additional order of 750 million rounds of high-power ammunition.

The DHS has updated a solicitation originally posted on the Federal Business Opportunities website earlier this year, now answering questions from prospective contractors about an inquiry the agency published back in April. All responses to the DHS’ request for hundreds of millions of rounds of high-power ammunition must still be sent in by August 20, but now the federal agency designated to thwart terrorism on the home front has answered some questions about what exactly they are looking for in terms of being able to blow stuff up.
In April, the DHS first published a solicitation “for commercial leaded training ammunition (CLTA) of various calibers for law enforcement officer firearms training courses” to be used at facilities in the states of Georgia, New Mexico, Maryland and South Carolina, as well as other unnamed DHS offices across the country. At the time the DHS demanded hundreds of thousands of test rounds for an array of ammunition types, including 209,000 rounds of #00 buckshot 8-pellet bullets for 12 gauge guns and more than 2 million shots for a .357 Sig Caliber. With their solicitation set to expire in less than a week, though, the DHS has taken it upon themselves to answer questions from contractors interested in their very pricey proposal.
In the latest amendment, published online over the weekend, the DHS answers such pressing questions as, say, “Would a 223 Rem 64Grain soft point round be acceptable?” in response to their initial request for 1.1 million rounds of .223 Rem Caliber 62.64 Grain JHP. (And, if you’re wondering, the official DHS-authored answer is, “Yes, that would be acceptable.”)
Understand that this is in addition to the 450 million .40 hollow points ordered earlier in the year. This means that DHS has order in excess of a billion rounds of ammunition! And this administration was concerned over the Aurora shooter who had only 6.000?
I have no idea what they need all this ammo for. It is not being used in Afghanistan or Iraq. It is being ordered for domestic use. We can speculate all day long about the use. PressTV writes about a study by Peter Tuchin titled “cliodynamics” in which scientists attempt to find meaningful patterns in history. It is possible that this may give us a clue. The article reads:
In the new study, Turchin, who reported his results in the July issue of the Journal of Peace Research, compiled historical data about violent incidents in U.S. history between 1780 and 2010, including riots, terrorism, assassinations and rampages.
The data indicates that a cycle of violence repeats itself every 50 years in America, like a wave that peaks in every other generation.
If Turchin’s model is right, then the current polarization and inequality in American society will come to a head in 2020. “After the last eight years or so, notice how the discourse in our political class has become fragmented. It’s really unprecedented for the last 100 years. So basically by all measures, there are social pressures for instability that are much worse than 50 years ago.” LiveScience

The Democratic Party candidate for state Supreme Court chief justice in Alabama, nominated by his state party earlier this year, now may be booted from the general election ballot because his personal beliefs are at odds the national party’s endorsement of same-sex marriage.
Bradley Davidson, executive director of the Alabama Democrats, told WND that a panel is scheduled to hear arguments Friday over a decision that could result in the removal of Harry Lyon from the Democrats’ list of nominees in the 2012 general election.
Lyon was the only Democratic candidate who surfaced for the position of Supreme Court chief justice, which is an elected slot Alabama. The GOP contender is the famed Ten Commandments judge, Roy Moore, who, according to polls, is leading by a significant margin.
Davidson told WND there are rule and procedure issues that need to be addressed with regard to Lyon’s candidacy. But Lyon told WND the problem arose because of his statements on his personal online social media page opposing same-sex marriage.
One statement said: “I want to make the following perfectly clear: Neither I nor Lucy Baxley believe in same sex marriages as does our Democrat President Obama’s personal opinion. Alabama has always supported our churchs (sic), the rule of law and common decency.”
Said another post: “If anyone on my friends list on Facebook believes in faggotry, please delist me.” And yet another said, “God did not start out with Adam and Steve but Adam and Eve … you freaks.”
Lyon told WND he has a colorful history, and the state party admitted allowing him to re-enter the party in 2005 after he had been removed earlier for various issues. But he said he believes in salvation by faith in Christ, as written in the New Testament, and he tries to follow the Bible’s other commandments.
Dean Young, the chief campaign fundraiser for Moore’s campaign, told WND that the state Democratic Party appears to be trying to march “in lockstep” with the national party, which recently adopted a platform advocating for same-sex marriage.
“They’re pushing the homosexual agenda,” he said. “If they’ve got a candidate like Harry Lyons, who says he doesn’t agree, they’re going to try to replace him with someone who does agree with the homosexual agenda.”
Lyons argued that his statements were on a personal social media page, and they are his own opinions.

He told WND that the state party also is using the issue to remove him, because the Democrats believe Moore might be vulnerable. He defeated two stronger, better-funded candidates without a runoff in the GOP primary. So Lyons said state Democrats believe he might be beatable in the general election, and they have a different candidate they want to run against Moore.
Whatever the real reason, Lyon said he would go to the Friday hearing and tell panel members, “We’re going to have the circus, and I get to see the clowns.”
The state party recently cleared Lyon of a complaint about his financial disclosures when the state determined he was in compliance. He suggested the complaint meant state Democrats were looking for any reason to push him off the ballot.
But he emphasized the significance of his position on same-sex marriage and the fact it aligns with the citizens of his state.
He recalled a friend who campaigned for circuit judge several years ago who repeatedly was confronted about whether he was loyal to the national Democrats in their support of same-sex marriage. His friend lost the race as a result.
But Lyon warned that voters could generate a backlash against the state party if he is removed from the ballot, especially over an issue like homosexual behavior.
“I don’t know of any law or rule that a candidate has got to agree with the president … as part of an issue that’s out there in the country,” he said.
While same-sex marriage may be a winning issue in New York or California, he suggested, “It’s not here in Alabama.”
Davidson told WND the hearing Friday is a “show-cause” hearing in which Lyon will be asked to justify his positions and statements. A five-member panel from the party’s executive board will hear the arguments.
He said he didn’t know how members of the party would react to Lyon’s statements nor what they would recommend.
“The full executive board will be on hand in the event that Mr. Lyon is disqualified in order to reach a decision on what next steps to take,” he said.
Davidson told the Montgomery Advertiser the hearing would consider a number of issues over “a lack of self-control and bizarre behavior.”
“He’s defamed just about everyone he would come in contact with as a member of the Alabama Supreme Court,” Davidson told the newspaper
The party complaint against Lyon alleges he’s in violation of the “Statement of Principles” of the party, including that “the people are entitled to honest and ethical government” and “that the people are entitled to honest and ethical government.”
NPR reported days ago the 2012 Democratic Party’s platform committee met and approved a plan to endorse same-sex “marriages.”
The Gadsden Times said Lyon wanted to position himself as a critic of homosexual marriage so that Moore would not be able to use the issue against him in the race for the office of chief justice.
WND reported earlier on Moore’s rebound in the state. It was nine years ago when he, as chief justice, fought a battle over a stone monument presenting the Ten Commandments in a state court building in Alabama. He was removed from office by a state panel after a federal judge ordered him to take down the monument.
But he coordinated a stunning upset victory over two better-funded competitors for the GOP nomination for the office, incumbent Chuck Malone and former state Attorney General Charlie Graddick.
According to a poll taken just days ago, Moore leads Lyon by 21 points, 54 percent to 33 percent. The poll surveyed 600 Alabama voters.
He’s built his strong support with endorsements that include one even from the Democratic Alabama AFL-CIO.
State President Al Henley told Real Clear Politics it’s the first time the union group has backed Moore, and Moore was the only Republican picked by the group this year.
Henley cited Moore’s record as a circuit judge in Gadsden and as an Alabama Supreme Court justice from 2001-2003 of treating the average person fairly in court.
“Throughout my campaign I have told people I would not bring back a monument, because it would confuse the people about the issue. But I will acknowledge the sovereignty of God in everything I do,” Moore told WND.

Gov. Romney and Congressman Ryan have something President Obama does not: A plan to save Medicare .
That’s right, for all their scare tactics, President Obama and Democrats have no plan whatsoever to preserve Medicare for future generations—or protect it for today’s seniors and those nearing retirement.
They did, however, cut Medicare by $700 billion to bankroll Obamacare .
Therefore, since Medicare is on track to go bankrupt in 2024, the de facto Obama Medicare plan is to rob it and watch it disappear, leaving future generations without any hope of receiving benefits and today’s seniors with an unpredictable future .
In the last few days, Democrats have hit the airwaves to desperately demagogue the issue and scare seniors. Without any plan of their own, they’re relying on the stale old tactics that have failed before: lying about Republicans’ plans and hoping voters won’t figure out the truth.
But their strategy is backfiring—as DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz found out on CNN Monday.
Like many Democrats, she was peddling the lie that the Romney-Ryan Medicare plan would affect those over 55. But CNN’s Wolf Blitzer called her out. She then spent four painful minutes trying to deny the truth. Be sure to watch the exchange to see how Democrats are on the losing side of this debate.
The Romney-Ryan plan protects Medicare as is for those 55 and over, and it offers reforms to secure and strengthen Medicare for future generations, saving it from bankruptcy.
Because the Democrats have no so such plan, their political strategy is to instill needless fear into the minds of older voters.
We’ve seen this behavior before. Democrats tried it during the 2010 midterm elections and lost. The American people don’t want empty rhetoric. They want action, but President Obama and his administration lack the courage to act.
Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan offer a different course. Both have a history of working with both parties to get things done. Former Clinton chief of staff and the head of Obama’s debt commission Erskine Bowles calls Congressman Ryan “amazing.” He praised his budget plan as “sensible, straightforward, and serious.”
Democrat Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon even co-authored with Congressman Ryan a plan to save Medicare. Such a proven track record of bipartisanship is exactly what we need in the White House if we’re going to tackle the difficult challenges that President Obama has so actively avoided.
Because of President Obama’s failed record on nearly every issue from the economy to the deficit to Medicare, the Obama campaign has become increasingly dirty, despicable, and desperate. Their latest lies on Medicare are no exception.
That’s why it’s important to remember the truth. President Obama is the only president who has cut Medicare by $700 billion. And he is the only candidate in this race willing to let Medicare die.

Romney says Obama just trying to 'hang onto power'

WASHINGTON (AP) — Escalating an increasingly acrimonious campaign, Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney dug in Wednesday on his charge that President Barack Obama's campaign was being driven by "division and attack and hatred" and called on the president to lift the tone of political discourse.
Romney went on national television to say he thinks Obama is "running just to hang onto power, and I think he would do anything in his power" to remain in office.
Obama campaign spokesman Jennifer Psaki said Romney's comments once again seemed "unhinged." The Democratic campaign had a similar response Tuesday night when Romney first accused Obama of running a campaign of "hate."
Romney shot back: "I think unhinged would have to characterize what we've seen from the president's campaign."
"These personal attacks, I think, are just demeaning to the office of the White House," he added.
The campaign has been lurching toward a more intensive stage in the wake of Romney's announcement Saturday of conservative Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin as his vice presidential running mate.
Even before that, both campaigns and independent groups supporting them had been running increasingly provocative TV ads.
Priorities USA Action, a group supporting Obama, ran a commercial suggesting Romney was personally responsible for the death from cancer of the wife of a man who worked at a steel plant that was bought and subsequently shut down by Romney's venture capital firm, Bain Capital.
The Romney campaign is running an ad, widely discredited by independent fact-checkers, that accuses Obama of gutting welfare reform. Romney's team is also running an ad that criticizes Obama for raiding the Medicare trust fund, a charge the president's team labeled dishonest and hypocritical.
The tone reached a fever pitch Tuesday in connection with a remark Vice President Joe Biden made to a mostly black audience in Danville, Va. Commenting in response to Republican criticism that the Obama administration had sought to regulate Wall Street too tightly, Biden said the GOP wanted to "unchain Wall Street."
The vice president went on to say, "They're going to put y'all back in chains."
Speaking in Wytheville, Va., later Tuesday, Biden said he had meant to use the term "unshackled." But he did not apologize, and he mocked the Romney campaign for showing outrage.
In his interview Wednesday on "CBS This Morning," Romney said, "I can't speak for anybody else, but I can say that I think the comments of the vice president were one more example of a divisive effort to keep from talking about the issues."
"The president's campaign is all about division and attack and hatred and my campaign is about getting Americans back to work and creating more unity in this country," he said.
Romney was holding private fundraisers Wednesday in North Carolina and Alabama. The president was campaigning in Iowa on Wednesday, the final day of his three-day bus trip through the Midwestern swing state. First lady Michelle Obama was joining the president, marking their first joint appearance on the campaign trail since May.
Obama's campaign was also launching state-specific efforts to target elements of Ryan's austere budget proposals, expanding beyond its opposition to the Republican vice presidential candidate's Medicare overhaul.
The developing Obama strategy comes as Romney and Ryan make clear they plan to campaign aggressively on Medicare, not run away from it. In person and in a television ad, the Republicans argued Tuesday that Obama is the one who cut spending for Medicare to put money toward his divisive health care overhaul.
In states with large military and veteran populations — Florida, Ohio and Virginia among them — the Obama campaign plans to attack Ryan's proposed cuts for veterans' benefits and care, a campaign official said. The official was not authorized to discuss the campaign strategy publicly and requested anonymity.
In Colorado, Ohio and Iowa, the campaign sees opportunities to capitalize on Ryan's proposed cuts to clean energy industries that are taking hold in those states. The Obama team will argue that cutting those investments would essentially cede new energy technologies — and the jobs that could come with them — to countries like China, the official said.
In Nevada and several other states, the campaign plans to push the impact of Ryan's budget on education, citing estimates that it would cut 200,000 children a year from Head Start, an early education program, and reduce Pell grants for 10 million college students.
The campaign launched an ad Tuesday in five states — Colorado, Iowa, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia — that links Romney directly to the Ryan budget's impact on college grants.
Obama's team may launch other paid advertising on elements of Ryan's budget soon. But for now, the campaign is focused on getting its message out in local media and directly to voters through its ample grass-roots network, which still trumps Romney's ground game in some states.
Despite ramping up new areas of attack, Obama's campaign is still eager to link Romney to Ryan's Medicare proposals, both on the national level and in battleground states with a significant number of voters over the age of 65, including Florida, Ohio, Iowa and Pennsylvania.
The president's pollsters wrote in a campaign memo that Ryan's Medicare proposals are a "game changer" in Florida, the battleground state with the most electoral votes up for grabs in November.
Ryan, interviewed on Fox News Channel, said he and Romney believe Medicare can be a winning issue for Republicans in the fall. "Absolutely, because we're the ones who are offering a plan to save Medicare, to protect Medicare, to strengthen Medicare," he said.
Ryan didn't say so, but the budgets he has written in the House both called for leaving in place the cuts to Medicare that he is now criticizing. Romney has consistently favored restoring the funds, and his running mate said, "I joined the Romney ticket."
Obama campaign spokesman Danny Kanner criticized Ryan's answers, calling the Wisconsin congressman "not ready for prime time."
"First, he attacked the president for the very same Medicare savings that he includes in his own budget," Kanner said in a statement. "In the same breath, he falsely claimed that the Romney-Ryan budget protects Medicare — in fact, their plan would end Medicare as we know it, leaving seniors with nothing but a voucher in place of the guaranteed benefits they rely on today."
The Obama campaign released a web video Wednesday that declares Romney and Ryan "plan to end Medicare as we know it." It features news commentators and liberal analysts such as economist Paul Krugman declaring that Ryan's House Republican budget would mean millions of older Americans would be unable to afford health care.
The video declares that Romney has lied about Obama's record on Medicare, and says Obama's proposal cuts payments to Medicare providers but offers more benefits to Medicare participants.
Romney and the Republican National Committee planned to release a new Spanish language TV ad Wednesday highlighting Obama's economic policies. Romney's campaign didn't say where it would run or how much money they plan to spend on the spot.

As the Obama campaign continues to tout the GM bailout as an industrial policy success, the Treasury Department continues to revise upward the staggering losses inflicted on U.S. taxpayers.
On the day Government Motors, aka GM, announced it was recalling at least 38,000 of its vehicles — Impalas used by police nationwide and in Canada — due to a crash risk, a new Treasury report said it now expects to lose $25 billion on the bailout, $3.3 billion more than forecast earlier.
As the Detroit News reported, this loss was based on GM's stock price at the time of the report, which was 15% higher than the previous report. Because the stock price has fallen since then, the latest report likely understates taxpayers' real losses.
The monthly report sent to Congress last Friday covers predicted losses through May 31, when GM's stock price was $22.20 a share.
On Tuesday, GM fell $0.26, or 1.3%, to $20.21.
At that price, the government would lose another $995 million on its GM bailout. The report notes the government still has 500 million shares of GM and needs to sell those shares at $53 each for the government to break even on the bailout.
Worse yet, the entire financial loss suffered by taxpayers is the result of a massive and planned redistribution of wealth from them to the auto unions that form a key part of Obama's base and re-election drive.
In its analysis, the Heritage Foundation says all the taxpayer losses occurred because the administration manipulated bankruptcy law to shelter the United Auto Workers' compensation.Subscribe to the IBD Editorials Podcast
"We estimate that the administration redistributed $26.5 billion more to the UAW than it would have received had it been treated as it usually would in bankruptcy proceedings. ... Thus, the entire loss to the taxpayers from the auto bailout comes from the funds diverted to the UAW," Heritage reckons.
On the jobs front, the auto bailout did less than nothing. Neil Barofsky, special inspector general for the $787 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program, reported to Congress that the forced closure of auto dealers, which hurt parts suppliers, was unnecessary and political.
"Treasury made a series of decisions that may have substantially contributed to the accelerated shuttering of thousands of small businesses and thereby potentially adding tens of thousands of workers to the already lengthy unemployment rolls," Barofsky said in a 45-page report.
Deciding which dealers were closed was determined by political, not business, reasons, with race and gender a key factor, the Barofsky report said. Some GM "dealerships were retained because they were recently appointed, were key wholesale parts dealers or were minority- or woman-owned dealerships."
Not even the push to force consumers into heavily subsidized electric cars like the Chevy Volt has helped.
As political consultant Karl Rove noted, GM employed roughly 252,000 workers in 2008. Now it has 207,000, with 131,000 working in foreign plants. Yet GM has not been accused of outsourcing jobs.
GM takes its place next to the Obama administration's Solyndras, another rotten fruit of an industrial policy where wealth is redistributed, not created, and where government picks winners and losers in an economy in which we all ultimately lose.

Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan as his running mate has utterly unhinged the Obama campaign. Last week they were happily jabbering about Romney's record at Bain Capital, implying that he had killed a man's wife, stating that he was a tax cheat and blaming him for outsourcing jobs. This week they're stuck defending Barack Obama's $700 billion cuts to Medicare and spending addiction.
That leaves the Democrats with one solution: get ugly.
Joe Biden led off the festivities in Virginia this week, where he informed the population of 49-percent-black Danville that "he said in the first 100 days, he's going to let the big banks once again write their own rules -- unchain Wall Street. They gonna put y'all back in chains." That last line is a direct transcription -- Biden lapsed into a heavy southern accent, clearly making a slavery reference. According to the Obama campaign, then, Romney's Wall Street plans are the same as placing Americans in chains. If that isn't insulting to black Americans, nothing will be.
But the Obama campaign wasn't done. The same day Biden unleashed his inner race-baiter, the Obama campaign's Julianna Smoot send out a mass email accusing Ryan of "making a pilgrimage" to Las Vegas to "kiss the ring" of Jewish mega donor Sheldon Adelson. This was an obvious attempt to drive a wedge between Ryan and blue-collar Catholics by invoking anti-Semitic imagery; the implication is that Ryan, instead of making a pilgrimage to Rome to kiss the ring of the Pope, was heading to Vegas to kiss the ring of a wealthy Jew. Ryan, the email implied, was a Judas willing to sacrifice religion for money in the Sodom and Gomorrah of Vegas.
This isn't just nasty campaigning. It's vile campaigning.
It wasn't surprising, of course -- not after the Obama campaign seemingly worked hand-in-glove with a super PAC to release an ad accusing Romney of murdering Joe Soptic's wife of cancer after Bain Capital fired Soptic and Soptic lost his health insurance. It wasn't surprising after the vulgarities that seem to spout daily from the Obama headquarters; their emails suggest that they must win the "damn" election and their staffers call Obamacare opponents "mother---ers." No hope and change to be found here -- just vulgarity and racism.
Just because the Obama campaign is running a disgusting campaign doesn't mean it will hurt them. Negative campaigns remain extraordinarily effective. But it won't work against the revitalized Romney-Ryan ticket. Ryan is simply too likeable -- 50 percent of Americans like him, as opposed to 32 percent who don't -- and he is highly intelligent and scrupulously honest. That means he'll be tough to categorize with the left's three favorite anti-conservative insults: stupid (Palin), corrupt (Nixon) and mean (Bush). Ryan isn't extreme; he's praised by people like ... Barack Obama and Erskine Bowles.
The question that remains for the American public is whether they can be polarized by the divide-and-conquer rhetoric of the Obama campaign. If Obama can't convince Americans that Romney-Ryan will destroy America, he'll have to destroy America himself to ensure re-election by separating Americans by race, sexuality and religion. That's precisely what he's doing.

Csanad Szegedi was making a name for himself in Hungary. He was an icon within Hungary's largest far-right political organization, the Jobbik party, he was a founding member of the Hungarian Guard, and he was serving his country in the European Parliament. He was a known anti-Semitic but given the Jobbik's ultra-nationalist undertones, this wasn't at odds with his party, his supporters, nor his public persona.
That was until it was discovered that he himself was Jewish.
A 2010 meeting between Szegedi and a convicted felon lies at the heart of this startling admission, reports the AP. The conversation, which was recorded, depicts the felon telling Szegedi of information he has become privy to showing Szegedi is in fact a Jew. Szegedi acts surprised, then begins offering the felon money and a possible EU job if he hushes up. He didn't, the tape was released, and Szegedi faced pressure from internet rumors.
In June Szegedi was forced to acknowledge his heritage, explaining that his grandparents on his mother's side were Jewish, making him Jewish, according to Jewish law. In fact, his grandmother survived Auschwitz and his father survived labor camps. Now, Szegedi has resigned from all his party positions, though he still wants to retain his seat in the EP, reports the Wall Street Journal.

In early August, Szegedi met with Rabbi Slomo Koves, of Hungary's Orthodox Chabad-Lubavitch community. During the meeting, Szegedi apologized for any comments he had made that offended the Jewish community, and said he planned on visiting Auschwitz to pay his respects, reports NPR.

Yesterday, they sent out an email asking “why the hell” Romney would pick Ryan, and speculating that it was because Ryan was a corporate patsy who would serve the interests of back room fat cats. Today, they’re making that argument complete with a supremely offensive attack on Ryan’s visit to Las Vegas – and, in particular, his upcoming visit with Republican donor Sheldon Adelson:

Today, just 72 hours after joining the GOP ticket, Paul Ryan is making a pilgrimage to the Sands' Venetian casino in Las Vegas to kiss the ring of Sheldon Adelson, the billionaire casino magnate who's already donated more than $35 million to Republican groups in this election.
That's the same Sheldon Adelson who gave $15 million to help Newt Gingrich against Mitt Romney in the primary, and said he may give $100 million -- basically, whatever it costs -- to defeat Barack Obama.
We're starting to get a glimpse of how Romney plans to cash in on his vice presidential pick. Before Ryan's even been fully introduced to the American people, he's attending a private fundraiser in Vegas with the top super PAC donor.

This isn’t just a rip against Adelson, which has become the Democrats’ favorite pastime – or perhaps their second favorite pastime, next to attacking the apparently omnipresent, omniscient, and omnipotent Koch brothers. This is deeply offensive language – it’s religious language. Ryan isn’t just visiting Adelson – he’s “making a pilgrimage” to Vegas. A religious pilgrimage, you might say. And what’s more, Ryan, a Catholic, is going to “kiss the ring” of Adelson. The implication: Ryan worships money. Or, in this case, a rich Jew. The language is purposefully written to mirror the idea of pilgrimage to Rome to kiss the ring of the pope. Only Rome is now Vegas, and the pope is a wealthy Jew.
The email itself is false, of course – the idea that Ryan hasn’t been introduced to the American public is bloviation of the highest order. Ryan has been tooling around the country introducing himself repeatedly, while President Obama has been sending out his surrogates to pick up big Hollywood checks. We already know more about Paul Ryan’s background and beliefs than we do about Barack Obama’s after four years of his presidency.
But that isn’t the point of the email. The point is to demonize Adelson with religious language, and to turn Ryan into some sort of Judas willing to sell Americans down the river for 30 pieces of silver. If this isn't a borderline anti-Semitic dog whistle, it is at the very least wildly irresponsible and disturbing language.

Appearing on “Fox News Sunday,” Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL) claims not to know the political affiliation of those behind the controversial Priorities USA Super PAC ad that implies that Mitt Romney is somehow connected with the death of Joe Soptic’s (Joe The Bummer) wife. When host John Roberts helpfully reminds Wasserman Schultz that the Super PAC is headed by Bill Burton, a former Obama White House Deputy Press Secretary, she still claims ignorance. Then, of course she embraces the ad.
In addition to Burton, we already know who else is bankrolling this ad, Hollywood elites like Bill Maher, Morgan Freeman, Jeffrey Katzenberg, Steven Spielberg, and JJ Abrams. After months of collecting signatures, spreading the word and fighting for a cause they believe in, the hard work of three young women from New Jersey has finally paid off. Today it was announced that the moderators for this year's presidential and vice-presidential debates will be evenly divided between male and female journalists, marking the first time in 20 years that a woman has been selected as a moderator.
Sixteen-year-olds Emma Axelrod, Elena Tsemberis and Sammi Siegel from Montclair, New Jersey, have been rallying for the cause since they started a Change.org petitionwhen they learned in civics class that it has been two decades since a female journalist has moderated the presidential debates. Their petition gathered over 122,000 out of 150,000 signatures, and even though it fell short of its goal, Washington took notice.
The Commission on Presidential Debates announced this morning that Jim Lehrer of PBS, Bob Schieffer of CBS News, Candy Crowley of CNN and Martha Raddatz of ABC News will act as this year's moderators.
Crowley will moderate the October 16 presidential debate -- becoming the first woman to do so since Carole Simpson in 1992 -- and Raddatz is slated to moderate the vice-presidential debate on October 11.
The girls explained that they were shocked when they found out that women had been left out of the presidential debates for so long.
"Women and men will never be truly equal in our country until they’re one and the same in positions of power and both visible in politics," Axelrod, Siegel and Tsemberis wrote in the petition's description. "There is no reason why a woman shouldn’t have a chance to show what she’s capable of by moderating debates in the upcoming election."
Largely thanks to their efforts, young girls across the country will have the opportunity to see women leading the political conversation in the 2012 presidential election.

Speaking to supporters in Virginia, Vice President Joe Biden said Republicans and Wall Street would put Americans "back in chains."
"They've said it. Every Republican's voted for it. Look at what they value, and look at their budget. And look what they're proposing," Biden said about Rep. Paul Ryan's budget proposal.
"[Romney] said in the first hundred days, he's going to let the big banks write their own rules — unchain Wall Street. They're going to put y'all back in chains," Biden said.
Biden also said that with voters' help, the Democratic ticket could win "North Carolina again."
The 'chains' comment was, to put it mildly, not ideal. Biden has been targeted by the GOP for his gaffes for months, but this one is a more loaded comment.

"Let's take a look, because now we’ve got a real clear picture, as Tom pointed out. We’ve got a real clear picture of what they all value. They’ve said it. Every Republican’s voted for it. Looks like Vice President Joe Biden has been taking extracurricular Democratic jive-talking lessons. The results of condescending liberals' cynical racial pandering attempts are, as always, seismically cringe-inducing.
At a campaign event in Danville, Va., the gaffetastic veep dropped his g's and picked up a bizarre twang in front of an audience of black voters. Middle-Class Joe swapped his Home Depot apron for an A.M.E. preacher's robe and sermonized about the big, bad GOP.
Romney's "gonna let the big banks once again write their own rules," Biden shouted. "Unnnn-chain Wall Street," he exclaimed with pulpit bravado. "They're gonna put y'all back in chains," the pasty Delaware wheeler-dealer faux-drawled. Extra-emphasis on the "y'all."
Yes, Biden is rattling chains like an extra in "Roots." This is the same politician of pallor who cracked jokes about Indians who work in 7-Elevens and who referred to his now-boss as "clean" and "articulate." Yet, Biden's demagoguery was met with approving hoots and hollers. Or rather, hollas.
Naturally, the defiant Obama campaign backed up Biden and gave a shout-out of its own. Welcome to the new tone -- and the same old slime. Prevaricating spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter (last seen defending the phony, indefensible Romney-killed-a-steelworker's-wife ad run by Obama Super PAC Priorities USA) chimed in after Biden's speech. "We have no problem with those comments," she told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell. Biden "was using a metaphor" with which the president agrees.
Timing matters. Biden's race-baiting came after a weekend clogged with divisive jabs at GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney's announcement of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate.
Democratic Rep. Donna Christensen, the non-voting delegate from the U.S. Virgin Islands to the U.S. House of Representatives, tweeted: "Wait a minute! Are there black people in Va? Guess just not w Romney Ryan! At least not seeing us. We know who's got our back & we have his." Left-wing actress Mia Farrow watched the announcement and derided a "whole bunch of white people." They were joined by countless "progressive" social media users who mocked the GOP's "white guy, white guy 2012!!!" Sirius XM radio host Dave Rubin -- himself the color of discount Charmin toilet paper -- called Romney-Ryan "the whitest ticket since the KKK voted for their box social chairperson."
Gotta love post-racial America!
The poisonous slavery allusion echoed the former pastor of Biden's boss. Rev. Jeremiah Wright, you may recall, used the same "chains" imagery to justify his "God Damn America" diatribe. "America," he inveighed in Obama's old Chicago-based Trinity United Church, put blacks in "chains ... and then wants us to sing 'God Bless America'? No, no, no. Not God bless America; God damn America!"
Biden's stunt also echoes Hillary Clinton's infamous black church minstrel performances in which she unleashed a mortifying Southern-spiced-with-street accent to show her street solidarity: "For the last five years, we've had No. Power. At. All. And that makes a big difference, because when you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation. An' yew know what ah'm talkin' about." At an event with race-hustler Al Sharpton, she poured it on thicker: "I'm afraid I'm gonna lift up the rug, and I'm goin' to see so much stuff uh-nder thar. ... You know, what is it about us always havin' to clean up after people? ... But this is not just goin' to be pickin' up socks off the floor. This is goin' to be cleanin' up the government."
At least the only thing she manufactured was her patronizing dialect. Remember candidate Barack Obama's 2007 Selma, Ala., speech? To court black voters, Obama claimed that President Kennedy had sponsored the airlift in Africa responsible for bringing his family to the U.S. and asserted that Selma's 1965 Bloody Sunday demonstration brought his parents together and led to his birth. Of course, JFK didn't take office until two years after Obama's father arrived in the U.S., and the president was born four years before Bloody Sunday.

Obama's Ironic Lie About an American Icon

Sign-To justify expanding the power of the federal government and increasing the burden of debt on federal taxpayers, President Barack Obama has repeatedly lied about a peerless icon of America's pioneering spirit -- the Golden Gate Bridge.
"During the Great Depression, America built the Hoover Dam and the Golden Gate Bridge," Obama said in his January State of the Union Address. "After World War II, we connected our states with a system of highways. Democratic and Republican administrations invested in great projects that benefited everybody, from the workers who built them to the businesses that still use them today."
Obama suggested here that the federal government invested in the Golden Gate Bridge. Elsewhere, he has used a royal "we" to seemingly credit the federal government.
"We built this country together. We built railroads and highways. We built the Hoover Dam and the Golden Gate Bridge. We built those things together," Obama said on May 10 in Seattle.
"We were creating the conditions for everybody to be able to succeed," Obama said. "These things made us all richer. They gave us all opportunity. They moved us all together, all forward, as one nation, and as one people.
"And that's the true lesson of our past," Obama concluded.
But it is not true.
The federal government did not conceive of the Golden Gate Bridge. Or design it. Or finance it. Or build it. Nor did the state government of California.
The people of Marin, San Francisco, Sonoma and Del Norte counties, as well as parts of Napa and Mendocino counties, built the bridge. The Bank of America financed it by buying bonds approved by voters in those counties. And drivers who actually crossed the bridge and paid its toll provided the money to pay off those bonds -- a feat accomplished only 34 years after the bridge was completed.
The movement to build the bridge, Louise Nelson Dyble reported in "Paying the Toll: Local Power, Regional Politics and the Golden Gate Bridge," essentially started at a 1923 meeting convened by Frank P. Doyle, chairman of the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce. The movement crystallized when state assemblyman Frank L. Coombs, a native Californian born in 1853, pushed through legislation permitting the creation of a "special district" that Northern California counties could join if they wished for the purpose of building a bridge from San Francisco to Marin.
The special district was a corporation separate and apart from state and local governments. It was dependent on local voters for authorization, who in turn were responsible for guaranteeing its funding.
This differed sharply from the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge, which would be funded by both the state and federal governments.
"In contrast," writes Dyble, "Golden Gate Bridge boosters were vehement about maintaining local control of the project. However, local control also meant local risk; even Coombs, the sponsor of the enabling act for the Golden Gate Bridge, remarked that its financing put a 'heavy burden on the small counties.' Also, the Golden Gate Bridge had little chance of winning state or federal assistance because the bridge district was structured to limit its accountability to other governments."
Dyble quotes a remarkable claim published in a report from the chief engineer for the project. "After the 40th year, the bridge having retired its bonds and accumulated the substantial surplus of 17 million-odd besides, will become free," said the report. "The user's tax of a toll bridge falls only on THOSE WHO USE THE BRIDGE. Thus the visitor relieves the local taxpayer and pays his pro rata cost of the improvement."
In 1930, Dyble reported, the people in the six counties that were part of the special district voted by the necessary two-thirds majority to approve a bond issue.
But that was just one year after the 1929 stock market crash. Who would buy the bonds?
As Kevin Starr wrote in "Golden Gate: The Life and Times of America's Greatest Bridge," the special district looked into borrowing money from the federal Reconstruction Finance Corp., which had already provided $71.4 million in financing for the Bay Bridge. But that was to no avail.
"Enter Amadeo Peter Giannini, chairman and president of the Bank of America and the controlling presence on the Bankamerica syndicate that was considering the purchase of $6 million in Golden Gate Bridge District bonds necessary to begin construction," wrote Starr.
According to Starr, Giannini asked Strauss how long the bridge would last. "Forever," said Strauss.
But the debt incurred in building the bridge was not eternal. The bridge district paid it off in 1971.
Alas, as Dyble noted in her history, the bridge district then morphed into a mass transit agency that uses tolls imposed on motorists to subsidize buses and ferries.
Obama's repeated use of the Golden Gate Bridge as a symbol to justify his use of federal deficit spending to sustain a manifestly flawed vision for spurring economic growth is ironic because the building of that bridge is as much a symbol of local action and fiscal prudence as the bridge itself is an icon of architectural excellence and engineering prowess.

Article I, Sec. 8 of the Constitution declares that the power to establish uniform rules of naturalization and bankruptcies remain with Congress, under the power to lay and collect taxes.

Congress also retains that state Governors are not compelled to uphold any decree, declaration, or policy of the Obama Administration that does not originate or pass as law from Congress.

Article I, Sec. 9 maintains that only 1,808 shall be admitted into the states, and a duty imposed of $10. While this is an old policy, it was never meant to be undone without amendment, by the laissez-faire enforcement during the days of Speaker Gingrich.
Any state, not adhering to these guidelines will be subject to federal funding cut to their Judiciary for failure to preserve the integrity of elections and prevent tax evasion. Any submissions to the federal government past the limitations of the Constitution will be investigated for fraud, and penalized in federal court.

Any person, attempting to defraud the United States of a fair and free election as was done in 2008, will serve five years in jail, or to be determined by the judge in the form of probation fines and fees, and their voting rights and citizenship will be delayed for a period of 10 years for circumventing current laws regarding elections, taxation, and citizenship.

Every state must disqualify from the ballot and strike Obama’s name for not meeting the natural born citizen clause requirements. Vice President Biden’s name may remain, but Obama’s name must be removed until he provides proof of his hospital records to each state, as Kapi’olani records have been forged.

NO SOCIAL SECURITY IS TO BE DISTRIBUTED TO ANYONE WHO IS NOT A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN, TO CIRCUMVENT TAXATION REQUIREMENTS FOR REMUNERATION, NOR ARE ANY VOTER ID CARDS ARE TO BE ISSUED TO ANYONE WHO CAN NOT PROVIDE PROOF OF CITIZENRY, (not just a residential address and driver’s license, as Obama’s immigration policy tries to circumvent current election laws for remuneration and purposes of fraud.)

Dennis Cardoza Resigns: California Democratic Congressman Announces Immediate Resignation

Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-Calif.) made an abrupt announcement on Tuesday, saying that he would be stepping down immediately from his Central California congressional seat, in part due to personal reasons.
"In light of the fact that nothing is going to happen for the rest of the year, and in light of the fact that (my wife) and I are facing increasing parenting challenges, this seemed the right time to make this move," Cardoza said in an interview published Tuesday by the Sacramento Bee's Capitol Alert.
The 53-year-old Cardoza and his wife have three children, a biological daughter and two adopted siblings, who are all teenagers.
The Democrat had earlier declared that he wouldn't be running for re-election in 2012. First elected to serve the 18th Congressional District in 2002, Cardoza would have faced the prospect of a bruising primary against strong Democratic candidates in order to prolong his political career. In announcing his resignation plans last year, he blasted the Obama administration for its "failure to understand and effectively address the current housing foreclosure crisis."
Cardoza's seat will be vacated effective midnight on Wednesday, but no special election will be held due to the timing of his resignation.
The Bee provides some information on Cardoza's career, as well as his future prospects:
A senior member of the House Agriculture Committee, and a one-time member of the extended House leadership team, Cardoza said some job feelers were extended to him soon after he announced his retirement plans. He said he did not pursue the opportunities at the time. On Monday, he expressed interest in potentially serving on some corporate boards and in investment banking; he played his other career cards close to his chest, though new announcements may be imminent.
In a statement released by Cardoza on Tuesday, the outgoing congressman gave well-wishes to the fading congressional contingent of fellow Blue Dog Democrats.
"'Long may you bark,'" he said. "The real honor of serving in Congress is not working in historic buildings, but in laboring with so many unbelievably talented and dedicated individuals who serve our nation daily."
Cardoza also acknowledged his family for their support.
"Above all, I want to thank my family," he said. "Each and every one of them has sacrificed to allow me to serve. My mother and father, who are no longer with us but were so proud to see me sworn in, provided me the education, foundation and morals to serve. My brother, his family, and my children have sacrificed greatly. And of course, I am grateful to my wife Kathie, who has been at my side since the beginning, and who still writes notes of inspiration and tapes them to my bathroom mirror when times are tough. I love you all. You are so special. Thank you."

HIGH-RANKING MEXICAN DRUG CARTEL MEMBER MAKES EXPLOSIVE ALLEGATION: ‘FAST AND FURIOUS’ IS NOT WHAT YOU THINK IT IS




A high-ranking Mexican drug cartel operative currently in U.S. custody is making startling allegations that the failed federal gun-walking operation known as “Fast and Furious” isn’t what you think it is.
It wasn’t about tracking guns, it was about supplying them — all part of an elaborate agreement between the U.S. government and Mexico’s powerful Sinaloa Cartel to take down rival cartels.
The explosive allegations are being made by Jesus Vicente Zambada-Niebla, known as the Sinaloa Cartel’s “logistics coordinator.” He was extradited to the Chicago last year to face federal drug charges.

Zambada-Niebla claims that under a “divide and conquer” strategy, the U.S. helped finance and arm the Sinaloa Cartel through Operation Fast and Furious in exchange for information that allowed the DEA, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and other federal agencies to take down rival drug cartels. The Sinaloa Cartel was allegedly permitted to traffic massive amounts of drugs across the U.S. border from 2004 to 2009 — during both Fast and Furious and Bush-era gunrunning operations — as long as the intel kept coming.
This pending court case against Zambada-Niebla is being closely monitored by some members of Congress, who expect potential legal ramifications if any of his claims are substantiated. The trial was delayed but is now scheduled to begin on Oct. 9.
Zambada-Niebla is reportedly a close associate of Sinaloa Cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and the son of Ismael “Mayo” Zambada-Garcia, both of which remain fugitives, likely because of the deal made with the DEA, federal court documents allege.
Based on the alleged agreement  ”the Sinaloa Cartel under the leadership of defendant’s father, Ismael Zambada-Niebla and ‘Chapo’ Guzman, were given carte blanche to continue to smuggle tons of illicit drugs into Chicago and the rest of the United States and were also protected by the United States government from arrest and prosecution in return for providing information against rival cartels which helped Mexican and United States authorities capture or kill thousands of rival cartel members,” states a motion for discovery filed in U.S. District Court by Zambada-Niebla’s attorney in July 2011.
A source in Congress, who spoke to TheBlaze on the condition of anonymity, said that some top congressional investigators have been keeping “one eye on the case.”  Another two members of Congress, both lead Fast and Furious Congressional investigators, told TheBlaze they had never even heard of the case.
One of the Congressmen, who also spoke to TheBlaze on the condition of anonymity because criminal proceedings are still ongoing, called the allegations “disturbing.” He said Congress will likely get involved once Zambada-Niebla’s trial has concluded if any compelling information surfaces.
“Congress won’t get involved in really any criminal case until the trial is over and the smoke has cleared,” he added. “If the allegations prove to hold any truth, there will be some serious legal ramifications.”
Earlier this month, two men in Texas were sentenced to 70 and 80 months in prison after pleading guilty to attempting to export 147 assault rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition to Mexico’s Los Zetas cartel. Compare that to the roughly 2,000 firearms reportedly “walked” in Fast and Furious, which were used in the murders of hundreds of Mexican citizens and U.S. Border Agent Brian Terry, and some U.S. officials could potentially face jail time if they knowingly armed the Sinaloa Cartel and allowed guns to cross into Mexico.
If proven in court, such an agreement between U.S. law enforcement agencies and a Mexican cartel could potentially mar both the Bush and Obama administrations. The federal government is denying all of Zambada-Niebla’s allegations and contend that no official immunity deal was agreed upon.
To be sure, Zambada-Niebla is a member of one of the most ruthless drug gangs in all of Mexico, so there is a chance that he is saying whatever it takes to reduce his sentence, which will likely be hefty. However, Congress and the media have a duty to prove without a reasonable doubt that there is no truth in his allegations. So far, that has not been achieved.
Zambada-Niebla was reportedly responsible for coordinating all of the Sinaloa Cartel’s multi-ton drug shipments from Central and South American countries, through Mexico, and into the United States. To accomplish this, he used every tool at his disposal: Boeing 747 cargo planes, narco-submarines, container ships, speed boats, fishing vessels, buses, rail cars, tractor trailers and automobiles. But Guzman and Zambada-Niebla’s overwhelming success within the Sinaloa Cartel was largely due to the arrests and dismantling of many of their competitors and their booming businesses in the U.S. from 2004 to 2009 — around the same time ATF’s gun-walking operations were in full swing. Fast and Furious reportedly began in 2009 and continued into early 2011.
According Zambada-Niebla, that was a product of the collusion between the U.S. government and the Sinaloa Cartel.

The claims seem to fall in line with statements made last month by Guillermo Terrazas Villanueva, a spokesman for the Chihuahua state government in northern Mexico who said U.S. agencies ”don’t fight drug traffickers,“ instead ”they try to manage the drug trade.”
Also, U.S. officials have previously acknowledged working with the Sinaloa Cartel through another informant,  Humberto Loya-Castro. He is also allegedly a high-ranking member of the Sinaloa Cartel as well as a close confidant and lawyer of “El Chapo” Guzman.

Loya-Castro was indicted along with Chapo and Mayo in 1995 in the Southern District of California in a massive narcotics trafficking conspiracy (Case no. 95CR0973). The case was dismissed in 2008 at the request of prosecutors after Loya became an informant for the United States government and subsequently provided information for years.
In 2005, “the CS (informant Loya-Castro) signed a cooperation agreement with the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of California,” states an affidavit filed in the Zambada-Niebla case by Loya-Castro’s handler, DEA agent Manuel Castanon.
“Thereafter, I began to work with the CS. Over the years, the CS’ cooperation resulted in the seizure of several significant loads of narcotics and precursor chemicals. The CS’ cooperation also resulted in other real-time intelligence that was very useful to the United States government.”
Under the alleged agreement with U.S. agencies, “the Sinaloa Cartel, through Loya-Castro, was to provide information accumulated by Mayo, Chapo, and others, against rival Mexican Drug Trafficking Organizations to the United States government,” a motion for discovery states.
In return, the United States government allegedly agreed to dismiss the charges in the pending case against Loya-Castro (which they did), not to interfere with his drug trafficking activities and those of the Sinaloa Cartel and not actively prosecute him or the Sinaloa Cartel leadership.
Taken directly from the motion filed in federal court:
“This strategy, which he calls ‘Divide & Conquer,’ using one drug organization to help against others, is exactly what the Justice Department and its various agencies have implemented in Mexico. In this case, they entered into an agreement with the leadership of the Sinaloa Cartel through, among others, Humberto Loya-Castro, to receive their help in the United States government’s efforts to destroy other cartels.”
“Indeed, United States government agents aided the leaders of the Sinaloa Cartel.”
The government has denied this and says the deal did not go past Loya-Castro.
Zambada-Niebla was arrested by Mexican soldiers in late March of 2009 after he met with DEA agents at a Mexico City hotel in a meeting arranged by Loya-Castro, though the U.S. government was not involved in his arrest. He was extradited to Chicago to face federal drug charges on Feb. 18, 2010. He is now being held in a Michigan prison after requesting to be moved from Chicago.

During his initial court proceedings, Zambada-Niebla continually stated that he was granted full immunity by the DEA in exchange for his cooperation. The agency, however, argues that an “official” immunity deal was never established though they admit he may have acted as an informant.
Zambada-Niebla and his legal council also requested records about Operation Fast and Furious, which permitted weapons purchased in the United States to be illegally smuggled into Mexico, sometimes by paid U.S. informants and cartel leaders. Their request was denied. From the defense motion:
“It is estimated that approximately 3,000 people were killed in Mexico as a result of ‘Operation Fast and Furious,’ including law enforcement officers in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico, the headquarters of the Sinaloa cartel. The Department of Justice’s leadership apparently saw this as an ingenious way of combating drug cartel activities.”
“It has recently been disclosed that in addition to the above-referenced problems with ‘Operation Fast & Furious,’ the DOJ, DEA, and the FBI knew that some of the people who were receiving the weapons that were being allowed to be transported to Mexico, were in fact informants working for those organizations and included some of the leaders of the cartels.”
Zambada’s attorney has filed several motions for discovery to that effect in Illinois Federal District Court, which were summarily denied by the presiding judge who claimed the defendant failed to make the case that he was actually a DEA informant.
In April, 2012, a federal judge refused to dismiss charges against him.
From a Chicago Sun Times report: “According to the government, [Zambada-Niebla] conveyed his interest and willingness to cooperate with the U.S. government, but the DEA agents told him they ‘were not authorized to meet with him, much less have substantive discussions with him,’” the judge wrote.

In their official response to Zambada-Niebla’s motion for discovery, the federal government confirmed the existence of “classified materials” regarding the case but argued they “do not support the defendant’s claim that he was promised immunity or public authority for his actions.”
Experts have expressed doubts that Zambada-Niebla had an official agreement with the U.S. government, however, agree Loya Castro probably did. Either way, the defense still wants to obtain DEA reports that detail the agency’s relationship with the Sinaloa Cartel and put the agents on the stand, under oath to testify.
The documents that detail the relationship between the federal government and the Sinaloa Cartel have still not been released or subjected to review — citing matters of national security.

Time Is Running Out for Hezbollah

Last week the Treasury Department leveled sanctions against Hezbollah for providing support to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad in his efforts to put down the 17-month-old rebellion meant to topple his regime. Since Hezbollah has already been designated as a foreign terrorist organization, this latest round of sanctions has little practical effect on the Lebanese militia. The purpose of the action, an American official tells NOW Lebanon’s managing editor Hanin Ghaddar, is in “highlighting the true nature of this organization, willing to assist the brutal crackdown of an illegitimate regime against its people.”
In other words, the sanctions are meant to undermine Hezbollah’s carefully constructed self-image of a resistance organization whose sacred weapons are used only to defend Lebanon from Israel. The reality is otherwise. In addition to using the arms of the resistance to assist Assad in his slaughter, the Shiite militia that now controls the Lebanese government previously turned those arms against its neighbors in May 2008. Hezbollah members stand accused of killing former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 2005, and the party is also alleged to be responsible for a series of assassinations and attempted assassinations, stretching from at least 2004 to the present day. For instance, last month the head of Hezbollah’s explosives unit was reportedly behind an assassination attempt on Lebanese MP Butros Harb.

The result is that some Lebanese believe that the resistance is a “liability.” As a recent editorial in NOW Lebanon puts it: “There is no place in modern Lebanon for a political party that is stronger than many of the region’s national armies. Lebanon wants to build on its democratic aspirations, create strong state institutions – and that includes the army – and build international relations through the offices of state.”
Even more noteworthy is the editorial’s description of Israel and its perception of Lebanon. This is perhaps one of the clearest and most accurate statements regarding Israeli policy toward an Arab state to ever make its way into the Arab press:
Is Israel really a threat? Does it really want to attack Lebanon? Israel has invaded Lebanon in the past, most notably in 1978, 1982 and 2006. It also occupied much of South Lebanon for nearly two decades before withdrawing in 2000.  In all cases, Israel was chasing down either the Palestinian Liberation Organization or Hezbollah, organizations that it would not tolerate on its northern border.
There is no evidence to show that Israel has territorial designs on Lebanon, nor would the international community tolerate it. The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, a tract held up by many conspiracy-obsessed Arabs as proof of Israel’s expansionist ambitions, has long been exposed as rubbish. There may be disputes over water and perhaps even oil and gas, but there is no suggestion that these will turn into all-out war.
Thus the Resistance is a liability. As long as the party maintains, and even adds to, its sophisticated arsenal of long-range missiles – something it calls a deterrent – Israel will always be nervous and on a heightened sense of alert. It sees the party as a non-state actor that owes its ultimate allegiance to Iran, and Hezbollah’s activities in the border region is more likely to lead to war than if it were not there at all. This was most keenly demonstrated in 2006, when a bungled kidnap attempt on Israeli soldiers led to a full-scale response that cost over 1,000 lives, over a million displaced and billions of dollars in damages.
Time is running out for Hezbollah. With its Syrian ally fighting with its back against the wall, the Party of God will eventually pay a price as costly as Assad. “I saw the birth of Hezbollah,” anti-Hezbollah Shiite political activist Lokman Slim told me in the spring. “I will see its end as well.”

The world's largest pan-Islamic bloc was poised Wednesday to suspend conflict-wracked Syria, a move strongly opposed by Iran, a staunch ally of the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.
An emergency summit of the 57-member Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) opened late Tuesday with the proposal put forward by a preparatory meeting of foreign ministers, a symbolic attempt to pile pressure on Damascus over its deadly crackdown on a 17-month uprising.
A draft final statement obtained by AFP said the summit, in Mecca, the holiest Islamic city, "approves the suspension of Syria's membership." It is expected to be endorsed when the leaders reconvene late Wednesday evening.
The move by the OIC, which represents 1.5 million Muslims worldwide, is aimed at further isolating Assad's embattled regime but its effect is seen as being largely symbolic.
Syria was suspended from the Arab League last year over its clampdown on the uprising that Assad characterised as a plot by Western and rival powers to overthrow his regime.
Saudi King Abdullah is presiding over the meeting, which is being attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad whose country has openly criticised the push to suspend Syria.
The draft statement says Syria should be suspended over "the obstinacy of the Syrian authorities in following the military option" to solve the crisis and the failure of a UN-Arab League peace plan brokered by Kofi Annan.
It demands that Assad's regime "immediately end all acts of violence" while defending Syria's "unity, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity."
Tensions have been simmering for months between Sunni-dominated Saudi Arabia and Shiite-dominated Iran as Syria has emerged as another arena for the longtime rivalry between the two regional heavyweights.
The Saudi monarch, whose country hosts the headquarters of the OIC in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, proposed Tuesday setting up a centre for dialogue between Muslim confessions in Riyadh.
Saudi Arabia has openly called for arming Syrian rebels.
Tehran meanwhile accuses Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey of arming and financing the mainly Sunni rebels against Assad, who leads a regime dominated by members of his Alawite sect, an off-shoot of Shiite Islam.
Iran is the Syrian regime's biggest regional ally and has pledged its full support for Assad, though it denies US and rebel accusations that it is providing his regime with arms and fighters.
Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi on Monday criticised the move to suspend Syria's membership of the OIC, saying it would not resolve the conflict and was not in line with the group's charter.
"We have to look for other ways, means and mechanisms for resolving conflicts and crises," he said, calling for a "Syrian-Syrian solution" reached through negotiations between the government and the rebels.
But foreign ministers meeting ahead of the summit agreed to suspend Syria "based on consensus with an absolute majority" and forwarded the decision to heads of state for final approval, OIC chief Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu said.
Sources close to the meeting said that only Iran and Algeria were against the recommendation. Syria had no representative at the meeting.
Mohammed Ahmed Taieb, a top Saudi foreign ministry official, told AFP that some delegates believed the body should go further by demanding that Assad step down and "preparing for a post-Assad transition period."
Tunisian Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem hailed the move to suspend as "a strong message to the Syrian regime on the importance of listening to the will of the people and their demands for freedom, justice and dignity."
The United States said that special envoy to the OIC Rashad Hussain would take part in the summit as an observer and meet with delegates on the sidelines.
The State Department said his attendance demonstrates Washington's commitment to "bring additional pressure to bear on the Assad regime."
The 17-month conflict in Syria has killed more than 21,000 people, according to rights groups.
In addition to the Syrian crisis, the OIC was also to discuss the Arab-Israeli conflict, the violence against the Muslim Rohingya minority in Myanmar and the unrest in Mali.

Gov. Deal appoints three county chairmen to GRTA, which faces funding shortfall after sales tax vote

Gov. Nathan Deal has put his imprint on GRTA, and the agency’s board is to meet Wednesday for two “first times:” First time since voters rejected the proposed regional transportation sales tax, and first since Deal appointed to the board the chairs of three county commissions who helped shape the project list for the transportation tax.
Henry County Chairman BJ Mathis now serves on the board of GRTA.
Deal seems to be generally satisfied with the agency’s direction. The governor this year has reappointed the executive director and four of the board’s 15 members – all of whom serve at the will of the governor.
Still, GRTA’s future is unclear, if not as an agency than certainly as a service provider. The agency needs close to $200 million over the next decade to maintain its Xpress bus service, according to figures discussed last summer when the project list for the sales tax was cobbled together.
The three chairs of the county commissions, whom Deal appointed in July, bring a depth of knowledge of any local resources that may be available to maintain regional bus service.
Meanwhile, GRTA does have a crucial – and ongoing – job in securing the future of transport in rural communities for those who need transportation to health care and other human services. The board is slated to approve one such item Wednesday.


Deal said the day after the referendum that he would focus the state’s resources on priorities such as the interchange at Ga. 400 and I-285. He did not say anything specifically about GRTA, but did have this to say about MARTA:

“On public transportation, yesterday’s vote slams the door on further expansion of our rail network anytime soon. Neither I nor the Legislature has much of an appetite for new investments until there are significant reforms in how MARTA operates.”
Into this environment arrive three new GRTA board members who know the intimate details of how the project list for the sales tax was assembled. They are:
  • B.J. Mathis, chairman, Henry County Board of Commissioners. Mathis replaces Mike Byrd, former chairman of the Cherokee County Board of Commissioners;
  • Charlotte Nash, chairman, Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners. Nash replaces Jerry Bowman, president and CEO of Cardinal Logistics Management;
  • Tom Worthan, chairman, Douglas County Board of Commissioners. Worthan replaces John Sibley, an Atlanta lawyer whose public service includes appointments by four Georgia governors.
The members reappointed by Deal include:
  • Walter “Sonny” Deriso, a lawyer who serves as board chairman of Atlanta Capital Bank, and several other boards;
  • Martha Martin, the former owner of a trucking company who serves on the board of the Georgia Motor Trucking Association, and several other boards;
  • Narender Reddy, who works in commercial real estate and is a leader in Indian-American organizations;
  • J.T. Williams, chairman and CEO of Killearn, Inc., a major developer of commercial, residential and golf course projects.

Douglas County Chairman Tom Worthan now serves on the board of GRTA.
At Wednesday’s meeting, the board is slated to approve a report on ways to fund rural health transport. The report is to be delivered to the governor’s office and state budget writers for consideration in drafting the state’s next budget.
The cost of maintaining status quo is expected to rise by 64 percent by 2030, and the state simply can’t afford to maintain that program, according to both GRTA and service providers.
The report will show that GRTA is heading toward a recommendation, as early as next year, that Georgia create a system in which the agencies that provide rural health transport are bundled.
Right now, three separate state agencies have a hand in helping the poor, elderly and disabled get from home to health care, and other human services, in rural Georgia – the departments of transportation, human services, and community health.

ASHEVILLE, N.C. — Evangelist Billy Graham is out of a North Carolina hospital following a two-day stay for treatment of bronchitis.
Pulmonologist Daniel Fertel said in a statement Tuesday that the 93-year-old had a quick recovery and responded well to his treatment at Mission Hospital in Asheville.
The doctor said that despite the illness, Graham is remarkably healthy for a man his age.
Graham, who has been working on a new book, returned to his home in nearby Montreat. His staff said he would continue his usual care and physical therapy at home and resume his involvement in ministry and writing projects.

Anti-abortion advocate, March for Life leader dies

WASHINGTON (RNN) - Nellie Gray, an anti-abortion advocate who helped spearhead the March for Life, one of the largest demonstrations in Washington, has died.
The March for Life website said Gray passed away over the weekend. She was 88.
The march is an annual pro-life rally aimed at protesting Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that legalized abortion.
The first March for Life, held on the first anniversary of Roe v. Wade, brought out 20,000 marchers, but has grown through the years. The 2012 march is estimated to have drawn more than 400,000 people.
"Every year since 1974, Nellie Gray has mobilized a diverse and energetic army for life," said Father Frank Pavone of Priests for Life, a pro-life advocacy group. "Her own commitment to the cause never wavered. She was a tireless warrior for the unborn and her motto was ‘no exceptions.'"
Gray was born in Big Spring, TX and served in the Women's Army Corps during WWII. She earned a law degree from Georgetown and worked for the federal government for more than two decades in the State and Labor Departments.
After retiring, she became instrumental in launching the march and would for many years serve as its leader.
"Nellie lived a life of heroic service to the unborn. Nellie will be remembered most for her passionate and ardent protection of every life, without exception," said Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council.
March for Life administrator Gene Ruane told the Associated Press her death appears to be from natural causes and that he found her body when he came to her home for a meeting. A medical examiner will determine the official cause of death.
Roe v. Wade will mark its 40th anniversary in 2013, which will be the 39th year for the march. Supporters say they'll continue the work Gray started.
"It was an anniversary that broke Nellie Gray's heart every year, and every day," Pavone said. "In January we will march in her memory, in her honor, to save the unborn children to whom she dedicated her life."

Macaulay Culkin's Estranged Father Speaks Out Amid Heroin Addiction Allegations

Photos of a much healthier-looking Macaulay Culkin walking around New York City on Saturday haven't seemed to help dispel the National Enquirer's claims that the former child star is addicted to heroin.
The 31-year-old's rep vehemently denied the allegations, calling them "ridiculously fictitious," and the Enquirer shot back, defending its claims while urging the actor to seek help. Now, Culkin's estranged father, Kit, is speaking out and is concerned for his son's life.
"I hope that he has the right people looking after him," Culkin's father told the U.K. paper The Sun.
Kit has been estranged from his son for the past 15 years, but photos dating back to February that show a gaunt-looking Macaulay have him worried.
"Oh, gosh. Kit has seen the photo. But he can’t talk about it. He just can’t, because it hurts him too much. Of course he’s worried, he’s incredibly concerned," Culkin's stepmother Jeanette Krylowski told the paper, adding that when she saw the photos she thought, "'Oh no, this is not good. Either he’s dying of some disease or he’s heavily into drugs.’”
In March, a source told In Touch that Kit was "totally devastated" by the photos, and added that he had not seen his son since 1997, when Macaulay fired him as his manager, due to his parents' fighting over control of the former child actor's personal fortune.
Though there have been reports that Macaulay allegedly turned to drugs after he split with Mila Kunis, his girlfriend of eight years, in 2010, his stepmother believes that it was the death of his sister Dakota, who died in a car crash in 2008, that caused the actor's life to allegedly unravel.

Well, it's pretty hard to deny it now.
Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher were spotted kissing at a party on Saturday, and it seems the "just friends" lines they've been telling everyone might not have been so accurate.
According to X17online.com, Kunis and Kutcher, who starred together on "That '70s Show," attended a wrap party for Kutcher's Steve Jobs biopic, "Jobs," and they were able to sneak in a kiss or two.
Earlier in July, the pair was spotted lunching at LA's trendy Soho House, and it doesn't seem like they were trying to hide their affection.
"They were seated on a couch on the same side of the table and Mila was running her hands through Ashton's hair," a source told Us Weekly about their Soho House outing. "She had her elbow resting on his back and couldn't stop playing with his hair and rubbing his shoulders. He leaned in and whispered to her and kissed her cheek. They were holding hands."
Though stories have been swirling that Kunis and Kutcher have been hooking up, the actors were quick to downplay any romance rumors that popped up in the spring.
