Leaked emails from the intelligence group Stratfor recently revealed some shocking allegations of massive Democrat voter fraud in 2008. The emails revealed by WikiLeaks say that the McCain campaign decided to ignore the wide spread voter fraud in order to avoid massive civil unrest — even though it meant he’d lose the White House.

The emails say that Democrats were caught “stuffing ballot boxes in Philly and Ohio,” but the McCain campaign decided to let it all go.
 After discussions with his inner circle, which explains the delay in his speech, McCain decided not to pursue the voter fraud in PA and Ohio, despite his staff’s desire to make it an issue. He said no. Staff felt they could get a federal injunction to stop the process. McCain felt the crowds assembled in support of Obama and such would be detrimental to our country and it would do our nation no good for this to drag out like last go around, coupled with the possibility of domestic violence.

J. Christian Adams, a former United States Department of Justice official,notes how fraught with danger these revelations are.
 With the blessings of hindsight, we see that fear of mob violence in our country is no longer a hypothetical in the mind of a presidential candidate. The call by the New Black Panther Party in Sanford, Florida, to seize (or kill) a private citizen is no longer the stuff of a senator’s imagination.
Adams was the member of the Justice Dept. that revealed to the world that Obama’s Attorney General, Eric Holder, decided not to prosecute the obvious law breaking perpetrated in Philadelphia by the Black Panthers during the 2008 general election.
Adams feels we are an inch away from major civil unrest as Democrats look to increase voter fraud in order to keep control in Washington and attempt to get away with it by using the threat of civil unrest to intimidate Republicans into turning a blind eye to it all… OR ELSE.
This is exactly the sort of law breaking we’ve come to expect from the Democrat Party. Itwill get worse before it gets better but that doesn’t mean we should ignore it.

Update: Human Events has learned that there is a Republican interpreter for Somali voters at the at the Morse Road early voter center and has modified the story.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Two volunteer poll workers at an Ohio voting station told Human Events that they observed van loads of Ohio residents born in Somalia — the state is home to the second-largest Somali population in the United States — being driven to the voting station and guided by Democratic interpreters on the voting process. No Republican interpreters were present, according to these volunteers.
While it’s not unusual for get-out-the-vote groups to help voters get to the polls, the volunteers who talked to Human Events observed a number of troubling and questionable activities.
A source, who wishes to remain anonymous, is a volunteer outside the Morse Road polling center.  She has witnessed Somalis who cannot speak English come to the polling center. They are brought in groups, by van or bus. The Democrats hand them a slate card and say, “vote Brown all the way down.” Given that Sherrod Brown is the incumbent Democrat Senator in Ohio, one can assume that this is the reference.
Non-English speaking voters may use an interpreter. The interpreters are permitted by law to interpret for the individual voting; however, they are forbidden from influencing their vote in any way. Another source who also wishes to remain anonymous has seen Democrat interpreters show the non-English speaking Somalis how to vote the Democrat slate that they were handed outside. According to this second source, there are not any Republican Somali interpreters available.
The logical follow-up question is whether a non-English speaking person is an American citizen. Although Republican leadership in Ohio passed a voting reform law, it was repealed by the legislature itself after the Democrats threatened a referendum. According to the Ohio Secretary of State’s web site, someone wanting to vote early in Ohio must supply one of the following in writing on the absentee ballot form, whether voting early by mail or in person: an Ohio driver’s license number; the last four digits of the social security number; or a copy of a current and valid photo identification, military identification, or a current — within the last 12 months — utility bill, including cell phone bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck, or other government document that shows the person’s name and address in addition to the voter registration acknowledgement.
The voter is not required to show the driver’s license or social security card, but must merely write it on the absentee ballot request form. While the individual would be required to show a utility bill, bank statement or other printed document if he or she chooses that option, this is in lieu of writing the driver’s license or social security number. Therefore, the information cannot be checked against the Bureau of Motor Vehicles or other state databases. Essentially, a person is asked to check a box stating that they are a citizen, and the poll worker is to trust that they are the person who is listed on the item being shown or the information being written. In other words, someone can be an illegal resident of the state of Ohio and the United States, get an apartment, turn on the heat, bring in the Columbia Gas bill, register to vote by the deadline, and vote by showing that same bill. There is then no verification that this individual is a citizen of the United States.
Matt McClellan, the press secretary for Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, explained, “There is a process to challenge a voter’s eligibility. The point in time for a challenge to be brought ended mid October. A poll worker could challenge a voter if they had questions as to whether or not a voter was registered or eligible to vote.” However, if the poll worker does not raise the issue at the time the voting occurs, that person’s vote will otherwise be counted on election day along with everyone else’s vote. McClellan was not aware of any reports of irregularities at the Morse Road voting place in Franklin County.
Two phone calls and a text message to the Public Information Office at the Franklin County Board of Elections were not returned.
According to the Somali Community Association of Ohio’s web site, over 45,000 Somalis live in Ohio. Only 40 percent have become citizens of the United States, and only 25 percent speak English well enough to get a job.
The second source mentioned has seen voter intimidation at this same voting place. A Mitt Romney bus stopped near the voting center, approximately 30 Democrats who were outside handing out the slate cards rushed over to the bus. They yelled at the bus, and swarmed around its door when anyone attempted to exit the bus. This, from the “tolerant left.”

Whether it's African-Americans being denied the right to vote in Florida in 2000, or members of the New Black Panther Party standing outside polling stations with billy clubs in 2008, whichever side loses will have some fodder for explaining the reasons why their side lost the 2012 presidential election. 3:41pm: According to NBC Bay Area, more than 25,000 dead people are still on the voter rolls in California:
"A closer look at the data revealed that some of the dead people were not only registered, but somehow, even voted, several years after their death. Sometimes, clerks say the mistake can purely be a clerical error, such as a misplaced signature or an outdated registration list that hadn't been purged. Other times, though, the voting turns out to be fraud, clerks say, where family members vote on their dead relatives' behalf."
2:53pm: From the Nation, three major voting issues thus far:
Problem #1: Problems with voting in states hit by Hurricane Sandy, particularly in New Jersey and New York. In New Jersey, for example, servers set up to handle ballots sent via e-mail have crashed due to volume. People affected by the storm don’t know where to go to vote. Polling places are not open, or not staffed, or the voting machines aren’t working. The highest concentration of calls to the 1-866-Our-Vote hotline is coming from New Jersey.
Problem #2: Poll workers in Pennsylvania wrongly telling voters they need photo ID to cast a ballot. According to the law, poll workers in Pennsylvania can ask voters for ID, but they are not required to show it in order to vote. However, that is not how the law is being enforced. Eric Marshall, co-director of Election Protection, says such problems are occurring across the state, although reports are that minority voters are being targeted in Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg. “Poll workers are asking black voters for ID but not white voters,” Marshall reported.
Problem #3: Voting machines are not working in the Ohio cities of Cleveland, Dayton and Toledo. The optical scan electronic voting machines are broken. These are heavily Democratic cities where Obama needs a big turnout to win.

Monday, 9:29pm: The Huffington Post is reporting that last week, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie turned down a request by the Romney campaign to appear with the GOP nominee at a rally in Morrisville, Pennsylvania. According to an anonymous Romney campaign aide: "You can't tell me he couldn't have gone over there for a night rally."
Monday, 7:56pm: The polling data among independents pre- and post-Sandy could signal major trouble for Romney:
Obama's response to Hurricane Sandy was praised across the political spectrum, with New Jersey governor and Romney surrogate Chris Christie calling Obama's handling of the situation, "outstanding." The response by the Federal Emergency Management Agency was in stark contrast to that of the Bush administration's to Hurricane Katrina, which devastated the Gulf Coast in 2005.
Monday 7:36pm: Contrary to earlier predictions about evangelicals being reluctant to vote for a Mormon for president, they are mobilizing to defeat Obama. While many Americans know very little about Mormonism, it will suffice to say this: Before the Church of Latter Day Saints outlawed polygamy in 1890, Mormonism was the belief that it is better for a man to have six wives than one beer.
Monday, 6:44pm: For what it's worth, InTrade pegs Obama's reelection chances at 68% as of this moment.
Monday, 5:45pm: The way I see it, Obama will defeat Romney 290 to 248. Realistically, there are several ways Obama can win, while the most likely path to a Romney victory entails the Republican winning Ohio, Florida, Virginia, and one other swing state, such as Colorado, Wisconsin, Iowa, or New Hampshire. It is entirely conceivable that Romney wins the popular vote, but loses the Electoral College, but I am predicting that Obama will win both.




Monday, 5:25pm: Control of the House and Senate will likely remain unchanged, with the former staying in the GOP's control and the latter being held by the Democrats. So whoever wins the presidency will likely be dealing with a divided Congress and more partisan gridlock. Americans should prepare themselves for the 113th Congress to be as ineffectual at passing legislation as the 112th has been — at least until the 2014 midterm elections.

The size of the lead can hardly be surprising in this, one of the bluest states in the nation. For instance, neither Barack Obama or Mitt Romney campaign here, but they both have spent lots of time fundraising here. For all intents and purposes, unless you're a New Yorker with a large campaign donation in one hand, you'll likely never get the opportunity to shake a presidential candidate's hand with the other. Damn you, Electoral College!

Monday, 2:31pm: Libertarian Party nominee Gary Johnson, who appears to have succeeded Ron Paul as the national torchbearer for libertarianism, told Politico that he thinks Obama will win:
“I think Obama’s going to win, that’s what I think,” Johnson told POLITICO in an interview. “[My vote is] really spread out, meaning I don’t think there’s any state that I’m going to do better than another.”
Monday, 2:18pm: Electoral vote map flashback to 2000:
If Al Gore's campaign had directed more resources into New Hampshire instead of Ohio, the Election Day fiasco in Florida might have been a mere sideshow in the most controversial election in generations. If the Granite State had gone for Gore, the electoral vote count would be flipped, and Gore would have won the presidency, in addition to the popular vote. Instead, he lost the state by two percentage points, and became the first candidate since Republican Benjamin Harrison in 1888 to win the popular vote, but lose in the Electoral College.
Monday, 2:11pm: Barack Obama was in Madison, Wisconsin earlier today speaking at a campaign rally, sounding slightly hoarse. He told the crowd, "We have come too far to turn back now."
Monday, 1:50pm: According to a Howey/Depauw University poll, Joe Donnelly (D) leads Richard Mourdock (R) 47% to 36% in the U.S. Senate race in Indiana. It was the first bipartisan poll taken since Mourdock claimed in the final debate that when women conceive as a result of rape, God intendedthe pregnancy to happen. Therefore, Mourdock said, he does not support a rape exception on the issue of abortion.
Monday, 1:27pm: The latest poll in the closely watched Massachusetts Senate race between Senator Scott Brown (R) and Elizabeth Warren (D) has Brown leading by one point. The UMass Lowell/Boston Herald survey appears to have come out of left field, as the previous three showed Warren ahead by six, four, and seven points.
This is the second most expensive Senate race in the country, with the two sides spending nearly $68 million combined through October. Brown is the most vulnerable Republican incumbent, which is not surprising in very blue state. Brown was elected in a special election in 2010, defeated Attorney General Martha Coakley and her hapless campaign. Warren, however, has been a much stronger candidate, and the higher turnout that comes in presidential election years should boost Warren here, where Obama will trounce Romney by double digits, even though Romney was governor of the state for four years.
Monday, 12:46pm: Early voting in Florida has turned into a fiasco, as some voters have waited at least six hours to vote. According to the Huffington Post,
"They didn't have the infrastructure," filmmaker Lucas Leyva, who was among those turned away, told The Huffington Post's Janie Campbell. "We read the press release and everything that went out this morning, promising we'd be able to get absentee ballots and vote. We got here and there was a line of hundreds of people all being told the same thing, that that wasn't true anymore. You could drop off [a ballot], but they could not issue one."
And if getting turned away from the polls weren't enough of an indignity, some of those 180 people ended up getting their cars towed from the parking lot across the street, according to a Miami Herald reporter.
Given that this is occurring in Democratic-leaning areas, and also the fact that Republican Governor Rick Scott has refused to extend early voting hours, a Romney win in Florida and the general election could mean a major controversy, a la Florida in the 2000 presidential election.
Monday, 11:42am: Everyone is talking about the Washington Redskins' home loss to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday because of the implications of the so-called "Redskins Rule." With the exception of 2004, in every presidential election since 1940, if the Redskins lose their last home game before the presidential election it has meant a victory for the non-incumbent party. On the other hand, a Redskins victory at home has meant the incumbent party has kept the White House. If this "rule" holds, Romney will become the 45th president. However, as I project below, no amount of voodoo NFL magic can save Romney's candidacy.

Given Barack Obama's landslide re-election win, you might think that victorious Democrats would be feeling upbeat and positive rather than vindictive.
But one Obama fan apparently proved a sore winner - leaving a disgusting message of hate outside a Republican field office.
A dead pig wearing a Mitt Romney T-shirt was yesterday found on the sidewalk outside the GOP headquarters in Manhattan Beach, a suburb of Los Angeles.

While police are still investigating the circumstances of the crime, the clothing on the carcass suggests it was politically motivated.

The pig was discovered by passers-by early on Thursday morning and removed by authorities later in the day, according to KABC.
Police had to cut up the mangled body in order to fit it into trash cans, where it could still be seen for several hours.

Political? The motive is currently unclear but it appears to have been carried out by a Democrat supporter
It was later removed by animal control, who took the carcass to keep as evidence for a possible prosecution.
Officials have said the incident could be a crime as it is 'illegal dumping of an animal carcass'.
Although it may seem obvious to ascribe partisan motives to the incident, the perpetrator left no note or message spelling out exactly what was behind the crime.

Those who were unfortunate enough to see the pig before it was removed told KABC they were disgusted by the horrific message.
'I saw the head wrapped in barbed wire and it's cut in half, the whole skull was,' Andy Gaeta told the station. 'It looked like something from a butcher's market.'
Another local said he thought the crime was symptomatic of the hyper-partisan political atmosphere: 'That is representative of something that kind of turns me off to this whole political system and this recent election and how divided it's kind of made us all.'

Elections have consequences: List of companies that have announced layoffs since Obama won

• Energizer -
The St. Louis-based company said Thursday that it expects to shed about 1,500 employees. When finished, the restructuring should lead to $200 million in pretax yearly savings, Energizer said. It aims to have most of its restructuring steps finished by the end of September 2014.
Exide Technologies announced Thursday that it will be idling its lead-recycling operations in Laureldale and laying off 150 workers, effective no later than March 31.
Westinghouse Anniston, the contractor responsible for shutting down Anniston’s chemical weapons incinerator, has reduced its workforce by another 50 employees.
Research in Motion Ltd., the maker of BlackBerry smartphones, laid off about 200 people at its U.S. headquarters in Irving on Wednesday, according to a source close to the company who did not want to be named.
More than one dozen employees at a Pikeville company lost their jobs this week. Officials with Lightyear Network Solutions said they are consolidating offices in Louisville and Pikeville to save money.
The Providence Journal Co. laid off 23 full-time workers Wednesday as part of a cost-cutting effort, including 16 members of the Providence Newspaper Guild and 7 non-union employees.
The company says 240 employees will lose their jobs with the closing of Hawker Beechcraft Services facilities in Little Rock, Ark.; Mesa, Ariz.; and San Antonio, Texas.
Boeing Co. said Wednesday it plans to employ 30% fewer executives at its Boeing Defense, Space & Security unit by the end of 2012 compared to 2010 levels.
CVPH Medical Center has handed pink slips to 17 employees. The layoffs — nine in management and eight hourly staffers — are part of an effort to “help bolster the hospital’s financial position in 2013 and beyond,” a press release said.

WASHINGTON - U.S. employers posted fewer job openings in September after advertising more in August than first estimated. The report suggests hiring will likely remain modest in the coming months.
The Labor Department said Tuesday that job openings dropped by 100,000 to 3.56 million, the fewest in five months. August's openings were revised up to 3.66 million.
The number of available jobs has jumped about 63 percent since July 2009, one month after the recession ended. It remains well below the more than 4 million jobs a month advertised before the recession began in December 2007.
The job market remains very competitive. With 12.1 million people unemployed in September, there were 3.4 unemployed people, on average, competing for each open job. In a healthy economy, that ratio is roughly 2 to 1.
Employers filled fewer available positions in September than in August. And the number of people who quit fell to the lowest level in 10 months. That's a bad sign for the job market, because it suggests workers see fewer opportunities to move to a better job. Workers tend to quit when they have other job offers.
One positive sign in the report: Layoffs fell.
Hiring looked a little better in October, according to the Labor Department's employment report released Friday. Employers added 171,000 jobs last month and hiring in August and September was better than first estimated.
The unemployment rate rose to 7.9 percent last month from 7.8 percent in September. But that was because more Americans began searching for work, likely reflecting increasing optimism about their chances.
The employment report measured net hiring and unemployment, while Tuesday's report looked at total hiring, layoffs and quits.
Job openings fell in manufacturing, construction, hotels and restaurants, and in government. There was also a big drop in openings in professional and business services, which includes both high-paying jobs such as architects and engineers as well as temporary services.

Due to the enormous budget problems that we’ve had over the past six years, the United States can not meet its primary obligations to provide for the common defense by operating in a state of legislative and political impasse.

Example:
No more stunning example of this can be found than by the former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who declared that her party had not read all of their proposed legislation known as the Obamacare package, as lumped into the most notable bills that were all but axed and abandoned due to lack of funding. Wherein, the only reforms that remained from the Affordable Care Act were preventive tests for the federal government picking up state tabs for expanded service, and the House cremating H.R. 4872, denying the federal government the ability to imprison citizens or collect taxes for federally-forced state health care exchanges for the uninsured. The results were resounding revolt against Congress, Obama, and Democrats for crafting legislation that they had not read or cared to consider how these laws impacted the jobs lost by 30 million people.

Most of this wasted time could have been avoided, had the legislation been publicly read to the people first, (each 2,000+ page bill being read and scored first, would have necessitated the editing that took place) and scoring the legislation would have allowed us to concentrate on the budget and job creation, rather than passing unconstitutional legislation against the will of the people over politics and causing more budget strain in a war-time transition economy.

Therefore, any proposed legislation will be scored as revenue negative, revenue positive, or revenue neutral with the corresponding dollar amount. The people elect a Congress and expect them to act with integrity, not put political interests and donors above their well-being or tell them what’s best for them. The people also expect Congress to do its job in passing a budget, and this enforceable measure enables Congress to do its job more efficiently without the harangue and political gamesmanship we have seen, while Democrats who have controlled the Senate since 2006 collected taxpayer-funded paychecks for not doing their job, in raising the debt ceiling and not writing a budget the past four years.

Legislation will be considered, approved, or denied on this basis and the Congressional process will be reported to the people, not delivered as pontification of position or party.

(Reuters) - Mexico on Friday formally charged 14 federal police officers with attempted murder for an August attack on two U.S. agents, identified by sources as CIA agents, that embarrassed the Mexican government with its powerful northern neighbor.
Mexican security sources have placed responsibility for the attack on corrupt police working in cahoots with drug gangs.
The Attorney General's office said it had issued arrest warrants for the 14 federal police officers, charging them with attempted murder and property damage for the attack which peppered a diplomatic vehicle with 152 bullet holes.
The 14 officers come from the southern Mexico City district of Tlalpan and were already in police custody, the statement said.
"The charged police officers tried to kill two employees of the U.S. Embassy in Mexico and a Mexican Marine," the Attorney General's office said.
Mexican officials had earlier said the fact that police officers used AK47s and were not wearing uniforms suggested a gang-orchestrated hit. However the statement made no mention of any suspected link to organized crime.
Drug cartels take advantage of bad pay for Mexican police to infiltrate their ranks.
The attack took place on a road south of Mexico City, and was initially blamed on a case of mistaken identity. It came when increased cooperation between U.S. and Mexican forces seemed to be yielding results in President Felipe Calderon's six-year offensive against the bloody cartels.
Since 2009, government troops have caught or killed more than 20 major drug lords. However that has led to cartel infighting and fragmentation.
Roughly 60,000 people have died in drug-related incidents during Calderon's term, and the violence was a factor that worked against his party's candidate in last year's presidential election.
President-elect Enrique Pena Nieto, who takes office on December 1, stresses his priority is to reduce violence and focus first on tackling crimes like extortion and kidnapping.
But Pena Nieto, who has led the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) back into power after a 12-year hiatus, has rejected negotiating with the gangs, mindful of the PRI's past reputation for cutting deals.
The CIA has declined to comment on the case, while the two agents, who received non-life threatening injuries, were quickly moved out of the country.

Petraeus’s Sudden Resignation

A few thoughts on the resignation of David Petraeus as CIA director: Few American leaders had a stronger reputation for integrity and honor, so the reason he cited for his departure – an extramarital affair – comes as a shock to the nation and to those who know him best.
Petraeus will go down in American history as one of its greatest generals. He turned around an increasingly disastrous situation in Iraq, despite tremendous criticism from war skeptics here at home. The work that he did there no doubt saved American and Iraqi lives and provided the Obama administration an opportunity to leave Iraq a reasonably stable country.
The director of the Central Intelligence Agency cannot carry on a secret affair and continue to hold that position. Friends and associates of Petraeus are telling reporters to take the stated reason for his resignation at “face value,” citing his reputation for integrity. And there’s little question that Petraeus, through a long and storied career in service to the country, has earned the benefit of the doubt. But it’s also true that the timing of his departure will inevitably raise questions.

Congressional Republicans were furious with Petraeus for what they described to THE WEEKLY STANDARD as “misleading” testimony he gave to the House Intelligence Committee on September 14. In that session, Petraeus pointed to a protest over an anti-Islam YouTube video as a primary reason for the attacks on the U.S. facilities in Benghazi, Libya, despite an abundance intelligence pointing to a pre-planned terrorist assault on the U.S. consulate and CIA annex there. Other members of Congress were particularly interested in questioning Petraeus about why crucial details about those attacks were left out of “talking points” the CIA prepared for lawmakers and executive branch officials. Among those details: the existence of a communications intercept between two al Qaeda-linked terrorists discussing the attacks. The level of frustration with the CIA and Petraeus had led several top Republican lawmakers to consider calling for his resignation in late October.
Obama administration officials have told reporters that Petraeus’s resignation means he will not testify before congressional oversight committees next week, as planned. This will not sit well with Republicans, who believe Petraeus is in a unique position to shed light on the intelligence on Benghazi before the attack, the decision-making during the attack and the misleading stories told after it.

ISLAMABAD (Reuters) - Pakistan is already cracking down on the Haqqani network and does not need to impose extra measures following the group's addition to the U.N.'s blacklist, a government spokesman said on Tuesday.
The U.N. Security Council's Taliban sanctions committee on Monday added the Pakistan-based group, accused of high-profile attacks in Afghanistan, to its sanctions list.
The action obliges all U.N. members to implement an asset freeze, travel ban and arms embargo for the Haqqani network.
"The three elements of the ban -- arms embargo, asset freeze and travel ban -- are all already in place in Pakistan," Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira told Reuters.
The United States designated the Haqqani network as a terrorist organization in September, a move the group's commanders said proved Washington was not sincere about peace efforts in Afghanistan.
The Haqqanis, a group allied with the Afghan Taliban, are the most experienced fighters in Afghanistan and are blamed for some of the boldest attacks, including one on embassies and parliament in Kabul in April that lasted 18 hours.
U.S. officials have long accused Pakistan of supporting the network, an allegation Islamabad denies.
"Which banned militant can openly travel in Pakistan? We have also checked on financing and other transfers. There is no problem," Kaira said.
A few months ago, the leader of a banned organization openly led a march into the capital, Islamabad.
Gretchen Peters, who wrote a report on Haqqani finances for the Combating Terrorism Center, said Pakistan could shut down the Haqqanis if it wanted.
"That's patently not true" that they have already cracked down, she said.
Seized receipts and other documents showed Haqqani leaders owned property, construction, trading and transport firms and bought weapons and ammunition inside Pakistan, she said.
A small team of financial investigators with strong political backing could severely damage the network, she said, citing U.S. successes in tackling South American drug cartels and seizing assets of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah.
So far, it is unclear how well the sanctions will be enforced. Peters' report found that most of the Haqqani assets were in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
"A sanction is like an arrest warrant. It only means something if countries act on it," she said.
In Pakistan, decisions about counter-terrorism and military strategy are taken by the military, which has ruled Pakistan for more than half of its 65-year history.
So far, the army has been conspicuously silent on the U.N. sanctions and U.S. designation of the Haqqanis as terrorists.
The military's Inter-Services Intelligence Agency (ISI) is widely believed to be its most competent and well-resourced of more than a dozen Pakistani security agencies.
It is also the agency that the United States has previously accused of supporting the Haqqani network.

BASRA, Iraq (AP) — The brutal crimes struck a nerve, even in a country that has seen a horrific amount of bloodshed in the past decade: Young Iraqi girls kidnapped, repeatedly raped and then bludgeoned to death in two separate incidents near the southern city of Basra.
Despite a conviction in one case, a handful of arrests in the other and beefed up police patrols in the city, families in Basra remain on edge following the murders of 4-year-old Banin Haider and 5-year-old Abeer Ali in a span of less than two months.
Now, many parents in and around the city won't let their children go to school alone or even play outside after class is out, fearing their daughters, too, could be snatched off the streets, sexually abused and murdered. Others are making plans to leave Basra altogether, saying they have lost confidence in the security forces' ability to keep children safe.
"These inhuman crimes make me think of the safety of my children," said Hazim Sharif, 38, a government employee and father of four. "I do not trust the security forces any more. I have to protect my family by myself."
To many in Iraq, the murders mark a new, more menacing type of violence than the country has previously encountered — at least in public.
Basra, Iraq's second-largest city, is considerably safer than Baghdad, and the recent attacks are seen as a particularly dark spot on an otherwise relatively quiet and stable province. The city of about 1 million and its surrounding province, which goes by the same name, is Iraq's main oil industry hub. The region is generally poorer and shabbier than the capital, but it is slowly beginning to flourish as international companies move in, attracted by the region's lucrative oil fields.
Basra police chief Maj. Gen. Faisal al-Ibadi and the head of the security committee in nearby Zubair, Mahdi Rikan, provided detailed accounts of the two cases to The Associated Press.
Banin was kidnapped Aug. 16 in Zubair, a rundown town just outside the city of Basra. Her family, from the nearby province of Dhi Qar, had come to town to visit relatives.
Police later found her body in a derelict area with her hands and legs bound. She was raped multiple times, and her head was smashed by what was believed to be a large brick, according to authorities.
An off-duty soldier assigned to a nearby army base, Akram al-Mayahi, was arrested in connection with the Banin's murder. He was found guilty on Oct. 22 and sentenced to death for abusing and killing the girl, said judge Jassim al-Moussawi, the spokesman for the Basra Federal Appeals Court.
Banin's family wants al-Mayahi to be executed publically at the scene of the crime as a deterrent, al-Ibadi said. The sentence has yet to be carried out.
The other young girl, Abeer, also came from Dhi Qar province, a relatively poor part of Iraq that many residents travel from in search of work, often for weeks at a time. She was abducted Oct. 11 while her family attended a wedding not far from the scene of Banin's murder.
Her body was found 12 hours later in an empty lot, bearing similar signs of trauma to the previous victim, though Abeer was also strangled with a shoelace, officials said.
Authorities later determined that the suspected kidnapper phoned nine friends and invited them to take part in the rape. So far, eight people have been arrested and have confessed. The case has yet to go to trial because the investigation is still under way. Authorities believe the soldier convicted in Banin's killing is not connected to Abeer's murder.
"I cannot rest or sleep while these criminals are still eating, drinking and sleeping in prison. They should be executed immediately," said Abeer's father, Ali Abid, a 30-year-old construction worker and father of four other daughters. "Iraq has become like a jungle where monsters maul the bodies of the poor people."
Reports of the two cases have sent a wave of fear through the streets of Basra.
Firas Khudier, 42, a businessman in Zubair, stopped sending his daughter Shahad to kindergarten out of fear she could be abducted. In the meantime, he has hired a taxi driven by a trusted relative to take his two older children to school even though it is nearby.
Sharif, a father of four, said he and his wife have begun escorting their children to school and back, and are keeping a closer eye on them even when they play just outside the house. Most parents in Basra are now doing the same, he added.
"They keep ... insisting on going out to play with their friends, but we have to remind them of the horrific story of the two poor girls," Sharif said.
In an attempt to calm public opinion, security forces have started deploying more police patrols, particularly near schools.
Some officials blame a rise in drug use for the crimes. Iraq's Interior Ministry recently cited the cases in calling on Iraqis to support an anti-narcotics campaign. Al-Ibadi said all of those arrested in the two cases are addicts who were under the influence at the time of the crimes.
Fawzia A. al-Attia, a sociologist at Baghdad University, said Iraq's decades of war and economic hardship also likely played a role.
"All these woes changed the social value system, weakened the role of the family and negatively influenced personality development," she said. "Young people in particular have started to feel the emptiness and boredom of unemployment, and (are increasingly disappointed) with religious and political institutions."
Many Basra residents see the focus on drugs as misplaced. They instead criticize Iraq's government and security forces for failing to provide adequate security.
Abid said blaming his daughter's killers' actions on drugs is just a way for the authorities to justify poor policing, saying that all the security forces care "about is the salary they get at the end of the month."

ANKARA/DOHA (Reuters) - Thousands of Syrians fled their country on Friday in one of the biggest refugee exoduses of the 20-month civil war after rebels seized a border town, and the United Nations warned that millions more still in Syria will need help as winter sets in.
In Qatar, the main opposition group outside Syria elected a new leader. However, it will start talks on Saturday with other factions, including representatives of rebels fighting President Bashar al-Assad's forces, on forming a wider body that hopes to gain international recognition as a government-in-waiting.
The U.N. said 11,000 refugees had fled in 24 hours, mostly to Turkey. The influx caused alarm in Ankara, which is worried about its ability to cope with such large numbers and has pushed hard, so far without success, for a buffer zone to be set up inside Syria where refugees could be housed.
Rebels overran the frontier town of Ras al-Ain late on Thursday, continuing a drive that has already seen them push Assad's troops from much of the north and seize several crossing points, a rebel commander and opposition sources said.
"The crossing is important because it opens another line to Turkey, where we can send the wounded and get supplies," said Khaled al-Walid, a commander in the Raqqa rebel division.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based group that compiles opposition activist reports, said at least 20 members of the Syrian security forces were killed when rebel fighters attacked a security headquarters in Ras al-Ain.
Thousands of residents poured out of the Arab and Kurd town, in the northeastern oil-producing province of Hasaka, 600 km (375 miles) from Damascus.
The Syrian National Council, the main opposition body outside the country, elected veteran activist George Sabra as its new head in Doha on Friday.
Sabra, a Christian, takes over a body that is under heavy criticism from international allies for being ineffective in the fight against Assad and for being driven by personal disputes.
Sabra appealed for arms to fight Assad's forces. "We need only one thing to support our right to survive and to protect ourselves: we need weapons, we need weapons," he told reporters.
Qatar, the United States and other powers are pressing the fractious Syrian opposition groups to come together and the SNC has agreed to open unity talks, although it fears its influence will be diluted in any new body.
Western countries and Syria's neighbors fear that hardline Islamist groups close to al Qaeda are growing in influence among rebels on the ground in Syria.
An outline agreement could see the SNC and other opposition figures agree on a 60-member political assembly, mirroring the Transitional National Council in Libya, which united opposition to Muammar Gaddafi last year and took power when he fell.
In Geneva, a senior U.N. official highlighted the plight of Syrians still in the country. An estimated four million people would need humanitarian aid by early next year when the country is in the grip of winter, up from 2.5 million now, said John Ging, director of operations at the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
"Every day our humanitarian colleagues on the ground are engaging with people who are ever more desperate, ever more fearful for their lives and for the lives of their families because of this conflict," Ging told a news conference. "Since this crisis has begun we have not been able to keep pace with the increasing need."
The latest flight of refugees raised the total recorded by the U.N. to over 408,000 in Turkey, Lebanon, Iraq and North Africa.
TURKEY HITS OUT
Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan hit out at world powers on the U.N. Security Council over their inaction.
"It is very strange. There are currently atrocities being committed in Syria and these atrocities are being directed by a state leader," he said. "How far will this go? When will the permanent members of the Security Council take responsibility?"
Turkey has responded in kind to mortar shells hitting its soil from fighting in Syria and is discussing with NATO allies whether to deploy Patriot air defense missiles on the border.
The Turkish state-run Anatolian news agency reported that 26 Syrian military officers had also arrived in Turkey with their families overnight in what it called the biggest mass desertion of senior soldiers from Assad's forces in months.
Advancing rebels fired mortars at the presidential palace in Damascus this week. Residents in the capital said security was being beefed up there. Assad told Russia Today television on Thursday he would "live and die in Syria", echoing words of other Arab leaders before they lost power last year.
In the last three months, the mainly Sunni Muslim Arab rebels have captured outposts on the Turkish border, moving towards the northeastern heartland of Syria's one million Kurds, many of whom have tried to stay clear of violence.
The Kurdish Council, a coalition of Kurdish parties opposed to Assad, called on rebels to pull their fighters out of Ras al-Ain, saying the clashes and fear of Syrian bombardment had prompted most of its 50,000 residents to flee.

(Reuters) - The Syrian National Council, the main opposition body outside the country in the uprising against President Bashar al-Assad, elected veteran activist George Sabra as its head on Friday.
Sabra, a Christian, takes over a body that has come under heavy criticism from international allies for being ineffective in the fight against the Syrian government and for being riven by personal disputes.
Sabra immediately appealed for arms to fight Assad's forces. "We need only one thing to support our right to survive and to protect ourselves: we need weapons, we need weapons," he told reporters after his election by the SNC's executive council which has met this week in Qatar.
The SNC will start talks on Saturday with other Syrian factions including representatives of rebel groups inside Syria on forming a new, wider body that hopes to gain international recognition as a government-in-waiting.

Sabra beat one other candidate to succeed Abdulbaset Sieda, a Kurd resident in Sweden, who took over from the SNC's first leader Burhan Ghalioun.
Muslim Brotherhood figure Mohammed Farooq Taifoor was elected as Sabra's deputy. The Brotherhood, a moderate Islamist group with affiliates around the Arab world, is seen as the dominant force within the SNC.
Sabra said his election showed that there was no sectarianism in the SNC. "The people here are Muslims and they elected a Christian," he said.
Sabra comes from the mixed Damascus suburb of Qatana and marched in early street demonstrations demanding Assad's removal last year before fleeing the country when secret police began targeting prominent pro-democracy campaigners.
A 65-year-old geography teacher, Sabra was known as a fierce critic of Assad before the uprising began. He is close to Riad al-Turk, a famed opposition figure who still operates underground in Syria.
Sabra is one of the writers of the Arabic version of the popular children's TV show Sesame Street.

TUNIS, TUNISIA A Tunisian man who was arrested in Turkey earlier this month with reported links to the attack on a U.S. consulate in Libya has been returned to Tunisia and is facing terrorism charges, his lawyer said Wednesday.
Ali Harzi was repatriated to Tunisia on Oct. 11 by authorities in Turkey, and a judge issued his arrest warrant, lawyer Ouled Ali Anwar told The Associated Press. He said his client was told by a judge Tuesday that he has been charged with "membership of a terrorist organization in a time of peace in another country."
A person who saw Harzi's court dossier told The Associated Press that prosecutors are linking him to the Sept. 11 attacks on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that left Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens and three other Americans dead.
He said Harzi is one of two Tunisians arrested Oct. 3 in Turkey when they tried to enter the country with false passports. The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to release the information. Harzi's alleged role in the attacks is not clear.
Meanwhile, a U.S. government official told CBS News that American investigators are in possession of some of the security camera video footage recorded during the attack. The official said the footage is of decent quality and investigators are reviewing it.
CBS News correspondent Margaret Brennan reports that the State Department has footage from 10 cameras. The FBI obtained the footage from Libyans who removed it from the consulate compound days after the attack. The footage was recorded on non-infrared cameras and isn't complete.
Anwar denied there was any evidence that Ali "is implicated in the Benghazi attacks." He added his client was not using a fake passport, saying he was used as a "scapegoat to satisfy the Americans."
Earlier this month, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said the U.S. has been looking into the arrests of two Tunisian men being detained in Turkey reportedly in connection with the attack. The State Department in Washington had no further comment on Wednesday.
Tunisian Interior Ministry spokesman Tarrouch Khaled confirmed that Harzi was in custody in Tunis. Khaled told The Associated Press "his case is in the hands of justice," but he would not elaborate further on the case.
The charge against Harzi is punishable by six to 12 years in prison, according to the provisions of the anti-terrorist law in force in Tunisia since 2003.
His arrest comes less than a week after a Libyan Islamist militia commander who a witness and officials say helped lead the deadly assault said that he was at the building that night, but denied he was involved in the attack.
On Thursday, Ahmed Abu Khattala, who describes himself as a founder and commander of the Islamist militia Abu Obaida Bin Jarrah, told The Associated Press by telephone that he went to the consulate to rescue men that he had been informed were trapped inside.
Abu Khattala said that, despite reports of his involvement, he was going about his daily business as a construction contractor in Benghazi.
A Libyan witness interviewed in the aftermath of the attack by the AP said that Abu Khattala was present directing fighters. The witness spoke anonymously for fear of retaliation.

An AP reporter was also shown a camera photo of a long-haired, long-bearded man who was wearing the Afghan-style robe favored by many radicals and whom other Benghazi residents identified as the 41-year-old militia leader. The consulate's gate with barbed wire could be seen in the background.

The New York Times has quoted unnamed Libyan officials as singling out Abu Khattala as a commander in the attack, calling him a leader in the hardline Islamist Ansar al-Shariah militia. Other Libyan witnesses say they saw Ansar al-Shariah trucks mounted with heavy weapons outside the consulate the night of the attack.

Emails paint picture of Benghazi attack

On Tuesday, CBS News obtained three email alerts that were put out by the State Department as the attack unfolded.
The third, sent at 6:07 p.m. ET -- roughly two hours after the initial attack began -- contained the subject line "Ansar al-Sharia Claims Responsibilty for Benghazi Attack."
The overlap between Abu Obaida Bin Jarrah and Ansar al-Shariah is not clear. Libya's rebel council moved to disband Abu Obaida Bin Jarrah after the July 2011 assassination of rebel army chief Abdel Fattah Younis, a killing blamed on the Islamist group. Some militiamen say Abu Obaida Bin Jarrah fighters joined Ansar al-Shariah, which rose to prominence during fighting later in the war and was entrusted with security in post-war Benghazi.
In Abu Khattala's account of the night, he was informed by phone that there was a protest at the building and that four men were trapped inside. He and his men went there to rescue them.
Abu Khattala declined to explain further how and why he was called upon to go to the site. Libya's government lacks a strong army and police force and has relied on militias, including in the past Ansar al-Shariah, to keep order.

Muslim group sees victories in all 4 ‘Key Races’ it targeted at fundraiser attended by Pelosi

It appears that all 4 of the Congressional / Senate races targeted by the National Muslim Democratic Council (NMDC) – a Muslim group that included the participation of both the Executive Director of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) and founder of the Muslim Student Association (MSA) – went their way. A fundraiser sponsored by the two Muslims in Congress – Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) and Rep. Andre Carson (D-IN) – was also attended by House Minority leader, Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).
The details of the May 16, 2012 fundraiser were published by the Investigative Project on Terrorism (IPT). The group listed 4 “key races” (2 in the Senate and 2 in the House) and is celebrating the results of all of them.
Those races were as follows:
MICHIGAN (Senate): Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D) over Pete Hoekstra (R).This race was a runaway for the incumbent, who raised nearly three times as much money as Hoekstra, a congressman who has been one of the few to openly raise concerns about CAIR. In 2009, he was a signatory to a letter entitled, “Beware of CAIR” back in 2009. The NMDC’s support for Stabenow may have had more to do with defeating Hoekstra than it did with supporting the Democrat.
VIRGINIA (Senate): Tim Kaine (D) over George Allen (R). Very close race to fill the seat vacated by outgoing Democratic Senator Jim Webb. If the NMDC’s fundraising efforts had an impact on any of the election results, this may have been one of them.
FLORIDA (House): Patrick Murphy (D) over Allen West (R). West, also a vocal critic of CAIR, already faced an uphill battle when he was re-destricted. Nonetheless, he came very close but lost. The outspoken West was clearly viewed by groups like CAIR as a nuisance.
OHIO (House): Joyce Beatty (D) over Chris Long (R). This was a race with no incumbent as it is a newly created district that was won by Beatty.
Save for a handful of exceptions, the Republican Party has largely avoided confrontations with groups like CAIR. If the aforementioned results are any indication, it will not be able to do that much longer.

Allen West Gains 300 Votes, Democrats ‘Lawyer-Up’ for Massive Battle

These percentages are absolutely critical.

This has Pelosi and the Democrats in a total panic.

Nancy Pelosi, who personally put-up Patrick Murphy to take-out Allen West, is desperate to avoid a recount.  

Pelosi, Murphy, and the Palm Beach County Democrats remember what happened to Al Gore in 2000.

When it’s a fair fight, the Democrats lose!

Right now, Murphy leads by 2,159 votes.

But there are still scores of overseas military ballots to be counted.

According to the Miami-Herald, “In 2008, there were several thousand military ballots in Palm Beach, St. Lucie and Martin counties. It was not clear how many were out this year, or how many had not yet been received”.

We’ll learn the results of these ballots on November 16, the deadline for them to be received.

This is good news for Allen West.

But it’s not good enough. We simply must push forward with a full recount.

Democrat Patrick Murphy knows he’s trouble.

He’s just launched a “Victory Protection Fund” to lawyer-up against Allen West.

Here’s what the ultra-liberal Murphy writes in an email:

“When other campaigns have been faced with similar situations, they have been burdened with legal bills and lengthy and expensive fights that could go on for weeks — months even. We need urgent resources for our Victory Protection Fund to make sure we can protect this victory. We would not be asking for more funds if it was not so urgent.”

And this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Nancy Pelosi and George Soros will pump-in millions to defeat Allen West.

They know any recount is expensive and timely.

They also know this is a fight in the court of public opinion, too.

In 2000, George Bush won in the courts.

But he had to first win in the court of public opinion to sustain his efforts.

If America weren’t behind him, he would’ve lost.

So we can’t afford to flinch.

How desperate is hurricane-ravaged New Jersey? Not desperate enough to suspend a union monopoly that keeps the state in the bottom ten states for economic competitiveness (and #48 for business friendliness). Relief crews from Alabama who were specifically called to New Jersey found themselves diverted to Long Island, NY after they arrived because they use non-union labor. Alabama is a right-to-work state.

WAFF-TV of Hunstville, AL reports:
Crews from Huntsville, as well as Decatur Utilities and Joe Wheeler out of Trinity headed up there this week, but Derrick Moore, one of the Decatur workers, said they were told by crews in New Jersey that they can't do any work there since they're not union employees....
Understandably, Moore said they're frustrated being told "thanks, but no thanks."
With so much at stake--and lives still in danger--it would seem logical to tell special interests to step aside.
On Wednesday, while visiting cleanup efforts in New Jersey in the company of Gov. Chris Christie, President Barack Obama vowed: "We are not going to tolerate red tape, we are not going to tolerate bureaucracy."
Unless, of course, that red tape is enforced by Obama's union cronies. Then stranded residents have to wait.

President Obama’s record of rewarding political donors with taxpayer dollars and plum administration posts is facing a new round of scrutiny thanks to GOP challenger Mitt Romney’s effort to make it a central issue of the campaign.
“[President Obama] thinks it’s his right to give taxpayer money to those who have supported him financially,” former Gov. John Sununu (R., N.H.) said Tuesday on a conference call hosted by the Romney campaign. “It’s insulting to hard-working entrepreneurs who really do create jobs.”
The most publicized instance of so-called “crony capitalism”—investing taxpayer dollars in firms tied to political donors—is the failed solar panel company Solyndra. The Fremont, Calif., firm was the first to receive a taxpayer-backed loan guarantee from the Department of Energy (DOE) in September 2009, worth more than $530 million. The funding for the loan was allocated in the controversial stimulus package passed earlier that year.
Obama bundler George Kaiser was a major stakeholder in Solyndra through his Kaiser Family Foundation, and made several trips to the White House in March 2009 to meet with senior administration officials. In July 2009, Kaiser bragged about securing face time with “all the key players in the West Wing of the White House,” as well as his “almost unique advantage” when it came to steering taxpayer funds toward his pet causes.
“There’s never been more money shoved out of the government’s door in world history, and probably never will be again, than in the last few months and in the next 18 months,” Kaiser told members of the Tulsa Rotary Club. “And our selfish parochial goal is to get as much as it for Tulsa and Oklahoma as we possibly can.”
Although things did not pan out for Solyndra—the company filed for bankruptcy in September 2011—Kaiser can expect to see a better return on his investment than American taxpayers. As part of an agreement to restructure Solyndra’s loan agreement in 2010, Obama’s DOE granted priority status to private investors like Kaiser with respect to the first $75 million recovered in the event of the firm’s bankruptcy, a move that many suspect violated federal law.
Taxpayers, meanwhile, are unlikely to recover much of the money invested on their behalf.
Emails uncovered by Congressional investigators reveal that Solyndra helped secure its $535 million loan guarantee with the help of Steve Spinner, another prominent Obama donor. After bundling more than $500,000 for Obama in 2008, Spinner was named to the White House transition team and later served as “chief strategic operations officer” of the DOE loan program that funded Solyndra.
Spinner’s wife Allison worked for a law firm that represented Solyndra and several other green energy outfits that applied for taxpayer funding. Records show that her firm, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, received $2.4 million in federal funds in legal fees associated with Solyndra’s loan application.
Spinner left the administration in September 2010 to become a senior fellow at the left-wing Center for American Progress, and has already bundled more than $500,000 for the president’s reelection campaign.
Solyndra is just one of many examples of quid pro quo in the DOE loans program; even the liberal Washington Post editorial board has described it as a “real scandal.”
“You can call it crony capitalism or venture socialism—but by whatever name, the Energy Department’s loan guarantee program privatizes profits and socializes losses,” the paper wrote in November 2011.
More than 70 percent of DOE and loans under Obama went to Democratic donors and bundlers, Peter Schweizer reported in Throw Them All Out.
A confidential 2009 memo authored by former White House economic adviser Larry Summers paints a damning picture of the administration’s approach to crafting the stimulus package.
“The short-run economic imperative was to identify as many campaign promises or high priority items that would spend out quickly and be inherently temporary,” Summers wrote. “The stimulus package is a key tool for advancing clean energy goals and fulfilling a number of campaign commitments.”
In several cases, including Solyndra, advancing the president’s green energy agenda went hand in hand with providing financial payoffs to prominent campaign donors.
California investment guru John Doerr, for example, has personally contributed more than $170,000 to Democratic campaigns and committees since 2008, and more than $2 million over the past 20 years. His investment firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), which lists former Vice President Al Gore as a partner, has given more than $1 million to Democrats since 2005.
An early and outspoken advocate for federal investment in “green” technology, Doerr was named to the president’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board in 2009, where he helped craft the $787 billion stimulus package. Of the 27 companies list in KPCB’s “green-tech” portfolio, 16 received some form of taxpayer support.
Another prominent Obama donor who has benefited handsomely from the president’s policies is Steve Westly. A frequent guest at White House events and state dinners, Westley served as California co-chair and a National Finance Committee member of Obama’s 2008 campaign and currently sits on the DOE’s Energy Advisory Board.
He has bundled at least $700,000 in campaign donations for Obama since 2008 and personally given about $260,000 to Democratic campaigns and committees since 2007.
Westly’s investment firm, the Westly Group, had a financial stake in four green energy companies that received more than half a billion dollars in federal funding in 2009. The group’s website once touted the firm as being “uniquely positioned” to take advantage of the influx of taxpayer funding in green technology, and currently notes that “To win in the clean technology space, a company must navigate the halls of government.”
Westly has openly acknowledged that knowledge of federal policy is key to investing in green technology. In response to a reporter’s question about which green energy companies he likes to invest in, Westly said: “Who cares what I think. Let’s talk about ‘what does Obama like? Here’s what he likes,’ because here’s where the federal government is putting money. And let me tell you, whatever he likes, that’s what I like.”
One of the companies Obama “liked” was the Exelon Corporation, a Chicago-based utility and recipient of hundreds of millions of dollars in stimulus funding. One of the most politically connected firms in the country, Exelon employees have made up one of President Obama’s top sources of campaign contributions throughout his career.
Exelon was Obama’s fourth-largest campaign donor when he ran for Senate in 2004, contributing more than $73,000, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. The firm donated $326,000 to Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008. The firm has ties to several top Obama bundlers, as well as to Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod and former White House chief of staff and current Chicago mayor Rahm Emanuel.
As the Washington Free Beacon reported in June, an Exelon subsidiary was recently awarded a lucrative 20-year contract to install solar panels manufactured by federal inmates on government facilities.
Such cronyism is not exclusive to the green energy sector. DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg has bundled at least $500,000 for Obama’s reelection campaign, and is the largest contributor to Priorities USA, the Obama-allied Super PAC.
The Securities and Exchange Commission is currently investigating whether DreamWorks made illegal payments to Chinese officials in order to secure exclusive film rights in the communist nation. The New York Times reported that Katzenberg, as well as Vice President Joe Biden, were intimately involved in negotiating an agreement under which China would up its annual quota of foreign-produced films from 20 to 34 and allow studios to keep a greater percentage of box-office revenue.
DreamWorks announced a $2 billion deal with the Chinese government in February to build a production studio in Shanghai just days after Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping held an extensive meeting with Barack Obama in Washington, D.C.
Obama’s penchant for crony capitalism, critics say, explains his comment over the weekend that “If you’ve got a business, you did not build that—somebody else made that happen.”
“He thinks that government is there to pick who should succeed and who should fail,” Sununu said on the conference call. “It’s in his political genes.”
“Big government lends itself to big cronyism,” said political analyst Jay Cost. “In Obama’s legislation, we see vast payoffs to interest groups that have benefitted the Democratic Party.”

Labor Department spent $500G in stimulus on green-job ad blitz on Olbermann, Maddow

The Obama administration paid a PR firm nearly $500,000 in stimulus funds to run a barrage of ads on White House-friendly cable programs promoting its green job training program.
According to government records, the Labor Department paid the money in late 2009 to a company that negotiated a media buy on MSNBC's "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" and "The Rachel Maddow Show." The ad was set to run more than 100 times -- 14 times a week for two months.
It's unclear how many people might have gotten involved in the green job training program because of the ads. But in terms of direct economic impact, the official online entry on the contract listed zero jobs created as a result of the payment.
"On the surface, this doesn't pass the basic sniff test," Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, who sits on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, told FoxNews.com.
Chaffetz, who said he's writing a letter to the Labor Department seeking more information about the contract, complained that the federal government already spends "way too much" on advertising as it is.
He said the targeting of these ads also raises questions about "political motivations."
The $495,000 contract was awarded to McNeely Pigott & Fox Public Relations.
The Labor Department defended the expense, suggesting in a brief statement Wednesday afternoon that the decisions on placement were largely made by the contractor.
"Job Corps has used media buys over the decades to inform potential participants and referral sources as well as employers about the Job Corps program. In this case, the Department of Labor relied on an outside contractor and media buying expert to perform research, conduct cost comparisons of media outlets, determine the most cost-effective way to reach the target audience, and create and place the ads," the department said.
Two department spokesmen also told The Washington Times that Larry King's former CNN show was considered for carrying the ad but was dropped because MSNBC was thought to be able to reach more viewers.
But Rick Manning, a spokesman with Americans for Limited Government who used to be chief of staff in the Labor Department's public affairs office in the George W. Bush administration, took issue with the department's explanation of the purchase. "The fact that they claim that they delegated this spending authority to a consultant without oversight is outrageous," he said.
The Maddow and Olbermann shows -- the latter of which is no longer on MSNBC -- have been two of the friendliest programs toward the administration on cable TV. Maddow herself cut an MSNBC ad last year touting government investment in infrastructure -- an Obama priority -- as she stood in front of the Hoover Dam and called on the country to "figure out whether or not we are still a country that can think this big."
The official "award summary" on the Labor Department contract explained that the ads were meant for "raising awareness among employers and influencers" about the green job training program and to move a "target audience" to contact the Job Corps Call Center to ask about enrolling.
The summary cited "existing and new training initiatives in high-growth and environmentally friendly career areas."
According to the Labor Department, the Job Corps committed more than $9 million in stimulus funds toward growing its training program and brought in more than 60,000 students to participate in the process.   
The department reported that it was adding training programs "for an emerging green economy" -- by developing concentrations for such careers as weatherization technician, smart meter technician and other fields.

After ten months of investigating Obama campaign bundler and former MF Global chief Jon Corzine’s role in the loss of $1.6 billion of customer funds, the New York Times is reporting that Eric Holder’s Department of Justice is unlikely to file any criminal charges against Corzine or top MF Global executives.

As Breitbart News has reported, the case is riddled with serious conflicts of interest.
  • The Government Accountability Institute revealed last month that MF Global was a client of Attorney General Eric Holder and Assistant Attorney General Lanny Breuer’s law firm, Covington & Burling.
  • Breitbart News discovered that the attorney representing MF Global Treasurer Edith O’Brien is Reid Weingarten, Eric Holder’s “best friend” and his own personal attorney. Weingarten and Holder also co-founded a non-profit together, the See Forever Foundation.
  • MF Global’s trustee for the Chapter 11 bankruptcy retained as its general bankruptcy counsel Morrison & Forester, Associate Attorney General Tony West’s old firm.
  • Former FBI Director Louis Freeh is the trustee overseeing MF Global’s bankruptcy. Freeh was a character witness at Holder’s Senate confirmation hearing. Freeh also previously retained Holder to do legal work when he was General Counsel for MBNA America Bank in Wilmington, Delaware.  
To date, despite Barack Obama and Eric Holder’s “get tough on Wall Street” rhetoric, the Department of Justice has not charged, prosecuted, or jailed a single Wall Street executive in the wake of the largest financial collapse in U.S. history.
As the New York Times sardonically noted in its report today, the “lack of charges in the largest Wall Street blowup since 2008 is likely to fuel frustration with the government’s struggle to charge financial executives."
Indeed, even progressives are outraged by Holder’s lack of Wall Street prosecutions.
As Richard Eskow of the Huffington Post recently wrote:
More and more Washington insiders are asking a question that was considered off-limits in the nation's capital just a few months ago: Who, exactly, is Attorney General Eric Holder representing? As scandal after scandal erupts on Wall Street, involving everything from global lending manipulation to cocaine and prostitution, more and more people are worrying about Holder's seeming inaction -- or worse -- in the face of mounting evidence.
As for Obama bundler Jon Corzine, he is already back trading with his family’s wealth and considering opening up a hedge fund of his own.

“Today’s headlines reveal more ethically questionable conduct by a member of President Obama’s inner circle, adding to a growing pattern of behavior,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Senior White House advisor David Plouffe profited handsomely by speaking to a company doing business with the radical, anti-American government of Iran. “Last week, we learned Jim Messina used his personal email account to negotiate with lobbyists while other top officials chatted up the special interests at Caribou Coffee to keep their conversations secret–blatantly violating the very transparency standards on which Obama campaigned. A separate report showed Jack Lew, Bill Daley, Valerie Jarrett and other Obama insiders all knew the Solyndra loan was headed for disaster, but they let the administration swindle the taxpayers for half a billion dollars anyway. New emails show Rahm Emanuel was ‘hot on Solyndra’ and pressured the administration to move forward, yet he refuses to answer questions about his involvement. “President Obama owes the American people an answer: Does he knowingly allow this kind of reckless behavior in his White House, or has he lost control of his own senior staff? Why isn’t he answering questions or holding his staff accountable? When President Obama promised to change the way Washington works, this certainly isn’t what voters had in mind.”

The Palestine Authority has long been considered an entity supporting terrorism. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have given nearly $600 Million in taxpayer money to the Palestine Authority.

Barack Obama and his Administration have close ties with Islamic radicals, CAIR, terrorists and terrorist organizations and they have implemented an agenda that supports terrorism.

The publicly available evidence is abundant, clear as glass and cannot be ignored by any rational person. 54 Congressmen, Obama and Hillary are aiding terrorists and should be immediately arrested.

Okay, America, it’s time for us to force our government to drop its charade. We have terrorists, communists, socialists and criminals running our country and driving it into the dirt. Now we have clear and sufficient evidence to demand a historic investigation of these criminal elements.

If the new House of Representatives does not immediately investigate, prosecute, impeach and/or jail these people for crimes, then America must assume that Republicans are active members of a now openly visible, terrorist Mafia organization that cannot be trusted to run the USA in the interest of law-abiding citizens. In fact, if the GOP House does not take immediate action on this terrorist issue, logic would dictate to any reasonable person that terrorists have captured our government and that citizens must act immediately to protect themselves and their country from further harm or potential death.

You don’t want to live in a terrorist country, do you? Obama bundler George Kaiser was a major stakeholder in Solyndra through his Kaiser Family Foundation, and made several trips to the White House in March 2009 to meet with senior administration officials. In July 2009, Kaiser bragged about securing face time with “all the key players in the West Wing of the White House,” as well as his “almost unique advantage” when it came to steering taxpayer funds toward his pet causes.
“There’s never been more money shoved out of the government’s door in world history, and probably never will be again, than in the last few months and in the next 18 months,” Kaiser told members of the Tulsa Rotary Club. “And our selfish parochial goal is to get as much as it for Tulsa and Oklahoma as we possibly can.”

DOE Cut Subordination Deal First with Solyndra’s Investors, then Created Legal Justification Hinged on Definition of the Word “Is.” Committee Releases Definitive Report On Administration’s Decision to Put Solyndra’s Wealthy Investors Ahead of Taxpayers – “No More Solyndras Act” Will Protect Taxpayers from Subordination in the Future

WASHINGTON, DC – As the Energy and Power Subcommittee prepares to vote on the “No More Solyndras Act,” the House Energy and Commerce Committee this morning released an extensive report on the legality of the Department of Energy’s decision to move Solyndra’s wealthy investors ahead of taxpayers in the restructuring of the solar company’s $535 million loan guarantee. Energy and Commerce members have raised significant concerns over this clear violation of the Energy Policy Act of 2005. According to the committee’s findings, DOE had already agreed on the terms of the restructuring and preferential treatment of the investors before conducting a legal analysis of whether its actions were in compliance with the law.

During its 18-month investigation into the failed half billion dollar loan guarantee, the committee revealed that DOE officials moved to restructure the Solyndra loan when it became apparent that Solyndra was running out of cash. With the company’s solvency in serious doubt, the Obama administration agreed to put wealthy investors at the front of the line in exchange for the investors contributing an additional $75 million to keep the company afloat.

After conducting an exhaustive review of the facts and circumstances relating to DOE’s decision to subordinate taxpayers’ interests, as well as of the legal arguments made by DOE in an attempt to justify its decision, the committee found DOE’s actions to be a clear violation of the law. The report states, “It is clear, based on the plain language of the statute and common principles of statutory interpretation, that subordination of a guaranteed loan to other financing, at any time during the life of the loan, violates subsection 1702(d)(3) of Title XVII.  Further, Committee staff’s review of the manner in which the legal memorandum was drafted, and the reactions and opinions of other Executive Branch agencies regarding the subordination issue, demonstrate clearly that officials at DOE, OMB, and the Treasury Department did not believe that subordination was proper.”

According to the report, DOE also employed the “Clinton Defense” in distorting the definition of the word “is” in the statute to legally justify subordination. The report states, “DOE attempts to justify this reading of the provision by viewing the use of the word ‘is’ as a temporal limitation on the subordination requirement confined to the moment the Secretary issues the guarantee.  In doing so, DOE ignores the rest of the language of the statute.”

While the plain letter of the law prohibits subordination, DOE has yet to accept responsibility for its unlawful actions. During a recent committee hearing, David Frantz, Acting Executive Director of the DOE Loan Programs Office, defended DOE’s decision and explained that DOE still believes it has the authority under the Energy Policy Act to subordinate its interest in a loan guarantee to another party, and that DOE would, if necessary, subordinate the taxpayers’ interest on other loan guarantees in the future.

Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) grilled Frantz over the legal authority of the department to put investors ahead of taxpayers, pointing to documents and emails uncovered by the committee’s investigation showing DOE was repeatedly warned against taking such action.


The committee report concludes, “When DOE agreed to subordinate its obligation to third-party financing, it did so in violation of the law. (T)he absence of a subordination scenario in DOE’s financial modeling assumptions strongly suggests that, prior to the restructuring, DOE and other Executive Branch agencies knew that subordination was not a legal option. The manner in which DOE’s memorandum was drafted and the reaction of other Executive Branch agencies cast further doubt on the legal conclusions of DOE.”

To stop DOE’s legal abuse and to ensure taxpayers are never again pushed to the back of the line, full committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-MI) and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee Chairman Cliff Stearns (R-FL) authored legislation enhancing protections against subordination of the taxpayers in the restructuring of any pending loan guarantees. In addition to phasing out the loan guarantee program, the “No More Solyndras Act” will prohibit DOE officials from restructuring the terms of any guarantee unless they first consult with Treasury. Just as with current law, the Act also prohibits the subordination of U.S. taxpayer dollars to any other investors.

To offer taxpayers further protection against subordination, Rep. Michael Burgess (R-TX) successfully attached an amendment to the draft legislation that would subject senior federal employees and federal appointees to remedial action, including suspension without pay and removal, for violations of any requirements of the Title XVII loan guarantee program.

California investment guru John Doerr, for example, has personally contributed more than $170,000 to Democratic campaigns and committees since 2008, and more than $2 million over the past 20 years. His investment firm, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers (KPCB), which lists former Vice President Al Gore as a partner, has given more than $1 million to Democrats since 2005.
An early and outspoken advocate for federal investment in “green” technology, Doerr was named to the president’s Economic Recovery Advisory Board in 2009, where he helped craft the $787 billion stimulus package. Of the 27 companies list in KPCB’s “green-tech” portfolio, 16 received some form of taxpayer support.

-WESTLY GROUP
A frequent guest at White House events and state dinners, Westley served as California co-chair and a National Finance Committee member of Obama’s 2008 campaign and currently sits on the DOE’s Energy Advisory Board.
He has bundled at least $700,000 in campaign donations for Obama since 2008 and personally given about $260,000 to Democratic campaigns and committees since 2007.
Westly’s investment firm, the Westly Group, had a financial stake in four green energy companies that received more than half a billion dollars in federal funding in 2009. The group’s website once touted the firm as being “uniquely positioned” to take advantage of the influx of taxpayer funding in green technology, and currently notes that “To win in the clean technology space, a company must navigate the halls of government.”

-EXELON
One of the companies Obama “liked” was the Exelon Corporation, a Chicago-based utility and recipient of hundreds of millions of dollars in stimulus funding. One of the most politically connected firms in the country, Exelon employees have made up one of President Obama’s top sources of campaign contributions throughout his career.
Exelon was Obama’s fourth-largest campaign donor when he ran for Senate in 2004, contributing more than $73,000, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. The firm donated $326,000 to Obama’s presidential campaign in 2008. The firm has ties to several top Obama bundlers, as well as to Obama campaign adviser David Axelrod and former White House chief of staff and current Chicago mayor Rahm Emmanuel.

Kate Walsh, the actress known for her role as Dr. Addison Montgomery on the ABC dramas Grey’s Anatomy and Private Practice, is urging end-of-year donations to the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

In a message sent to her followers on twitter today, Walsh wrote Thursday night, “Tw’eethearts, ‘Tis the season. Donate to Planned Parenthood for a chance to win an autographed Private Practice DVD set – from [yours truly].”
“Donate to Planned Parenthood here for a chance to win an autographed Private Practice DVD,” Walsh said in a follow up tweet sent today, again urging donations to the abortion business.
Fan sites and followers of Walsh on Twitter, including Planned Parenthood, have re-tweeted the post and added to Walsh’s appeal for funds for the abortion business that has been caught on video lying to women about abortion and exploiting teenagers who have been sexually abused.
Walsh is no stranger to promoting Planned Parenthood and abortion.
Walsh, a member of Planned Parenthood’s Board of Advisors, hosted a Congressional forum in 2008 that the abortion business promoted. During the panel, Walsh advocated cutting out all government funding for abstinence education, which drew condemnation from Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council.
“Contrary to what Walsh and her liberal friends believe, doing away with abstinence education won’t lower teen pregnancy rates,” Perkins said in an email about the event. “Instead it would squelch one of the most effective methods of reducing teen sexual risk.”
On the CBS “Early Show,” co-host Julie Chen asked Walsh about why she opposes abstinence education.
“Abstinence is one — abstinence is one aspect of sex education, but it is not the complete aspect. And to expect, I think, everybody to remain abstinent is just — it’s like asking them not to grow. It’s like we don’t ask people to not try out for sports,’ Walsh claimed.
Walsh is but one of many Hollywood stars to encourage people to donate to the abortion business or support their agenda.
Earlier this year, four actors from the acclaimed television series Law and Order: Criminal Intent recorded a video endorsing the nation’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood. They specifically endorse its efforts to force Americans to pay for abortions in a government-run health care plan.
Actors Eric Bogosian, Vincent D’Onofrio, Kathryn Erbe, and Julianne Nicholson lend their faces, voices and names to the pro-abortion effort and specifically endorsed taxpayer funding of abortions and abortion coverage in health care insurance.
Last year, Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda on the popular television program and movies, stumped for donations on Mother’s Day. Her letter to Planned Parenthood donors followed one from children’s author Judy Blume.
The Blume letter sparked so much national outrage after LifeNews.com exposed it, that Planned Parenthood begged its supporters to send thank you notes to her.

DreamWorks Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg has bundled at least $500,000 for Obama’s reelection campaign, and is the largest contributor to Priorities USA, the Obama-allied Super PAC.
The Securities and Exchange Commission is currently investigating whether DreamWorks made illegal payments to Chinese officials in order to secure exclusive film rights in the communist nation.
